The Hahndorf Pioneer Women’s Trail Walk is a great community event enjoyed each year by all who participate.
The Pioneer Women’s Trail Walk honours the early European settlers from Hahndorf who supplied Adelaide with fresh produce at a time when most foodstuffs had to be imported into South Australia.
The trail has been developed between Verdun and Beaumont and traverses the Mt Lofty Ranges, passing through the townships of Bridgewater, Stirling and Crafers. Since then thousands of enthusiastic walkers have trodden in the footsteps of previous generations.
Take up the challenge! Walk in the footsteps of German pioneer women and men, from Hahndorf to Beaumont House or shorter distances from Bridgewater, Stirling or Eagle on the Hill. Runners are also very welcome (please note will be no traffic marshals and runners will need to bring your own water).
The Hahndorf Pioneer Women’s Trail Walk event is a great family day out. Make a day of it and invite your family and friends to join you after the walk in the surrounds of the beautiful garden of Beaumont House, food and drinks will be available.
Take the opportunity to wander through this wonderful old home and have a look at the historic photographs of the Pioneer Women’s Trail.
