International Guide Dog Day Parade

International Guide Dog Day Paws Parade

Guide Dogs SA/NT clients and supporters will celebrate International Guide Dog Day with their annual ‘Paws Parade’ to honour the life-changing work of Guide Dogs, Autism Assistance Dogs and Therapy Dogs for people living with disability.

Led by the SA Police Band, the colourful parade of around 300 people and dogs will head off from Guide Dogs offices at 251 Morphett Street, Adelaide at 9:30am and travel along Franklin and King William Streets to Government House. The Paws Parade will be led by Guide Dogs SA/NT Patron and Governor of South Australia, His Excellency the Honourable Hieu Van Le AC; Guide Dogs SA/NT Chairman, Mr John Oliver; and Guide Dogs SA/NT CEO, Mr Aaron Chia.

The parade will conclude with morning tea and a ceremony in the Governor’s Gardens, where the Governor’s wife, Mrs Lan Le, and Mr Chia will present awards to graduating and retiring Guide Dogs, Autism Assistance Dogs and Therapy Dogs.

Local business awards:

Local businesses that consistently demonstrate a commitment to making our state a more accessible and inclusive place will be honoured on the day with the ‘Friends of Guide Dogs’ Awards, presented by The Right Honourable The Lord Mayor of Adelaide, Sandy Verschoor. These awards recognise businesses that have gone above and beyond their legal requirements in South Australia to make dog handlers feel safe, welcome and included.
