Lemonade Scones | 5 Ingredients | Easy Recipe

Lemonade Scones – Easy Recipe for Kids

Served warm or cold, these delicious homemade scones are really easy to make using five every day ingredients. Simple enough for the kids to join in and help, let them measure out the ingredients and take a turn mixing, kneading and cutting out the scones.

We have served these fluffy delights many times and there’s never any left over!  Loved equally by adults and children alike, they are perfect for morning or afternoon tea, as an after school treat, to take to the park in a picnic basket or as part of a party menu.

They are best served straight out of the oven while still slightly warm, topped of course with jam and cream (or do you prefer cream then jam!?)

You will need a mixing bowl, wooden spoon, measuring cups, baking tray, pastry brush and a scone/cookie cutter (a glass or cup will also work).

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups self raising flour
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 cup lemonade
  • 1 cup thickened cream
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees celsius (fan forced oven)
  2. Combine flour & salt in a bowl; make a well in the centre
  3. Alternatively add small amounts of lemonade & cream, mixing in between (don’t over mix)
  4. Knead on a floured surface, then flatten
  5. Cut out shapes of your choice – round, heart, flower etc.
  6. Place scones on a baking tray & brush tops with milk
  7. Bake for 15 minutes

When done, place a fresh tea towel in a clean bowl or basket and place scones inside, then cover over to keep warm.
