‘Marion Celebrates’ Twilight Street Party

‘Marion Celebrates’ is back in 2017!

The new look festival will feature a twilight street party in the heart of Marion. Get together with family, friends and neighbours and join in the community’s biggest event on Saturday 25 March 2017 from 4pm – 9pm. The free festival will take place at the Marion Cultural Centre plaza and include fun for everyone with activities such as open air markets, food trucks, a pop-up bar, stage and street performances and workshops plus other activities for all ages!

Kid’s Activities

There’s so much to entertain the little ones with storytelling, origami, dress ups, native animals, henna tattooing, face painting, arts/crafts, and circus tricks.

Open Air Market

More than 30 market stalls will sell handmade Indian clothing and jewellery, candles and fragrances, scrapbooking, indigenous artworks, and children’s toys.

Food Truck Alley

Tempt your taste buds with Italian streetfood, crepes, chips on a stick, German and chilli floaters, ice cream, milk shakes and iced fruit smoothies.

Performances

  • Roving performances by The Adelaide Allsorts Harmony Chorus
  • Street performances by Malachi Frost who will attempt to beat Harry Houdini’s 100-year-old record for the straightjacket and chain escape
  • Stage performances by Marion City Band and Warriparinga Brass, Hallett Cove East Primary School, Vocalize Choir, Rindang Adelaide, Casa de flamenco and The Wholias
  • Circus Elements wowing the crowd with tricks

 Go Green

Find out how to grow your own native daisy bush and make a simple wicking bed for your veggies. Marion residents can also pick up a free kitchen caddy for their food scraps.

Arabian Tent

Enjoy Arabian coffee, fresh dates, and have your photo taken in this exotic Arabian tent.

Get Arty and Crafty

Help create a mandala artwork or try your hand at weaving.

What is the ‘Marion Celebrates’ Festival?

This award-winning, free community festival with the theme ‘Many Cultures, One Earth’, is a biennial event which has been running for 18 years, with 9 festivals to date at various locations in Marion.

‘Marion Celebrates’ has a reputation as a family-friendly event with a focus on art and cultural experiences and sustainability for all to enjoy. Previous festivals have attracted over 5,000 visitors.
