Tasting Australia | Kids Events | 30 Apr – 7 May 2017

Tasting Australia 2017 will showcase a selection of the country’s premium produce and world-class talent over eight days of inimitable food and beverage experiences.

From April 30 to May 7, food and wine lovers can immerse themselves in events in and around Adelaide. The festival offers an incredible line-up of local heroes, Australian chefs, and international industry leaders including Marco Pierre White (United Kingdom) and the World’s Best Female Chef Ana Ros (Slovenia). Visit the transformed Town Square (Victoria Square) for lunch, dinner, masterclasses and demonstrations, or look inside the showpiece restaurant, the Glasshouse Kitchen. 

With clustered events in many of SA’s regional food bowls including the Barossa, Adelaide Hills, Riverland and Fleurieu Peninsula, festival-goers are invited to really embrace South Australia’s food and beverage culture. Go and get your hands dirty, visit a farm, meet a producer, enjoy a tasting with the winemaker and secure your seat at the table for Tasting Australia 2017.

Kids Activities

“Taste Buds” Food Facts for Kids

Sunday 30 April 2017 | 2pm – 2.45pm

Glasshouse | Town Square , Adelaide

Do you know where your food comes from? Do you know your fruit from your vegetables? How does a brussel sprout grow? Callum Hann & Themis Chryssidis from Sprout Cooking School will answer all your kids questions about food and lead them on a food fact journey. Callum & Themis will walk the kids around the garden beds to collect their ingredients and then they will create a delicious, nutritious recipe to munch on. This session is filled with fun food facts and delicious treats. Recipes will be included in their take home goody bag. 

Children must be accompanied by an adult to register. Sessions are 40 minutes. Event open to children aged between 8-12 years old.

“Taste Buds” – Plant A Pizza

Sunday 7 May 2017 | 2pm – 2.45pm

Glasshouse | Town Square, Adelaide

Wanted: kids who love pizza, who love to grow food and who love to eat!

If you are one of these kids, come along and be part of Plant a Pizza day. Not only do you learn what to plant in a pizza garden, you will be able to harvest your own fresh seasonal vegetables and herbs then make your very own wood-fired pizza. ABC Television’ Gardening Australia presenter, Sophie Thompson, will show you how to pot your plants to start your very own pizza garden. Sophie will guide you through the garden to harvest fresh ingredients for you to create your very own pizza. Then you can show Sophie how to eat it! Each child receives a take home potted plant and a goody bag. 

Children must be accompanied by an adult to register. Sessions are 40 minutes. Event open to children aged between 8 -12 years old.
