The Studio at the Art Gallery of SA is always a great place to take the kids. We like to drop in and see what’s happening there once in a while. It’s always different depending on the current major exhibition happening at the Art Gallery. Currently it has a Trent Parke theme. The Studio is a free activity space set up perfectly for families and all materials are supplied free of charge.
You can make your own little concertina book in a ‘Trent Parke theme’ of black & white or your book can be about whatever you like. There are pictures and patterns you can cut out and stick in your book; or you can sketch and colour in.
You can also make your own flying creature by cutting out one of their creatures printed on card, decorating it and attaching to a stick.
The Art Gallery restaurant is just opposite where you can get a coffee. I also noticed (see below) they have some cute items on the menu for kids at the moment (although we didn’t eat there on our visit). There is a grassy area beside the restaurant for kids to have a little run around.

During exhibition change-over periods we recommend that you call 8207 7000 to check on The Studio’s availability.
