The Adelaide Bug Festival

The Adelaide Bug Festival is a new exhibition that will be held from 4-7 February 2021 at the Adelaide Showground. The exhibition will feature various giant, moving, hissing and clicking insects and creatures from different parts of the world. Imagine this: a 6m tarantula or a 6m scorpion from head to tail.

The exhibition blends technology, science, artistry, and imagination to capture the most unusual aspects of the insect world. Various animatronic insects will be featured and the exaggerated size of these creatures will shine a creative spotlight on what makes them “extreme.” Visitors will be able to examine these insects up close and learn a lot about their importance in our ecosystem, extreme behaviours and the physical characteristics that allow bugs to thrive and survive.

A variety of preserved and live reptiles and insects will also be on view for close-up inspection. Educators will also be on hand to give short insect talks and answer questions.

There will also be a jumping castle and amusement rides from $5 per ride.
