The Adelaide Fringe is always an exciting time of the year with so much entertainment on offer in and around the city and stretching out to regional areas of South Australia.
The beauty of an open-access arts festival as unique as the Adelaide Fringe is that anyone with a show, exhibition or cultural event is able to register and be part of Australia’s largest arts event, creating one of the most diverse arts festivals in the world. Renowned for fresh ideas, spontaneity and fun, the Adelaide Fringe is not to be missed!
The Adelaide Fringe runs for four weeks from mid February to mid March and there is something for absolutely everyone on offer, from street theatre and circus acts to world class music, cabaret, theatre and comedy. Be sure to get your tickets early to the shows you want to see as many sell out fast.
Every year there are also a variety of family friendly events to attend for FREE. From the opening street parade to the Fringe Caravan in Goolwa, there is plenty to see and do without having to buy a ticket.

Tindo Utpurndee – Sunset Ceremony | SA Museum lawns, North Terrace, Adelaide | Friday 17 February 2017 at 8pm
To officially open the 2017 Adelaide Fringe, everyone is invited to this special ceremony to recognize the living culture of the First Nations and to pay respect to the spirit of the land. We attended this last year and it was beautiful. Duration is only 30 minutes. The walls of the SA Musuem will be lit up with illuminated projections.
You could walk down Rundle Street for an ice cream treat before or after the ceremony or check out the Garden of Unearthly Delights too.
Digital Walls: Lumifonica | Elder Hall, University of Adelaide, North Terrace | from 8.30pm | Friday 17 February to Sunday 19 February
Right after the Sunset Ceremony, Digital Walls will be turned on at Elder Hall. The facade will be filled with animated light and music, through ingenious interactivity as the audience take their turn to control the building and become virtuosos of light and sound. This free nightly event combines colourful projection mapping with custom made audiovisual synthesis, so that the architecture can be played like a musical instrument drawn from far fetched imagination.
Watch as the bravest in the crowd step up to create their own piece of music and visual art animating the building with moving, grooving architectural projection. Meet the illuminarty, who will show you how to play the magical machinery and help you take a turn to play in the synaesthetic symphony. Find out more here
