Adelaide Multicultural Eid Festival | Adelaide Showground | 27 & 28 Apr 2024

Eid Festival is South Australia’s largest and most prestigious Eid celebration. The Eid Festival is the premier Muslim festival in South Australia. Eid is the Muslim celebration for one of two important occasions in the year: Eid al Fitr and Eid al Adha.

Up to 20,000 patrons are expected to attend Multicultural Eid Festival across two days at the Adelaide Showgrounds. The festival will feature more than 20 cuisines through its food stalls, market stalls, stage entertainment and more rides than ever before to keep both kids and parents entertained.

Adelaide Multicultural Eid Festival Creative Director, Mohammed Hassan, says while the event has a large focus towards the Muslim community, all are encouraged to attend.

“The Eid Festival highlights an important cultural element of Adelaide’s community and allows those of Muslim faith to embrace both Islamic and Australian culture,” says Mohammed. “For those who aren’t Muslim, it allows us a chance to showcase our culture through food and experiences during the festival – everyone is welcome!”

With children under five free and an entry fee of $10 for adults and $7.50 for children, it’s an affordable day out with options to purchase ride tickets.  There is a pre-purchase unlimited ride pass available for $40, or for those who decide on the day, it is $45.
The pass will get you on the Showground’s much-loved Ferris Wheel, as well as the likes of the Hurricane, Wacky Shack and Dragon rides. Choices for the little ones include a super slide and teacup ride.

Fireworks on Sunday night and interactive sessions with sporting clubs will provide great memories after the fun of rides and other experiences on offer. Sideshow games and showbags, stage shows, a petting zoo, a rock-climbing wall and camel rides are just some of the other activities patrons can choose to enjoy.

There will be more than 20 food stalls featuring Turkish, Bosnian, Syrian, Greek, Italian, Palestinian and Indian food among others. This directly links to Eid, or The Festival of Sweets, part of Eid-al-Fitr. This coming together in Islamic culture sees people sending prayers of happiness, and afterwards, breaking the fast after the month-long Ramadan practice (fasting between dawn and sunset).

Adelaide’s Multicultural Eid Festival is self-funded and executed by volunteers as a not-for-profit community event.
