As we all know, this year has seen a lot of restrictions placed on events and venues, so please check the booking requirements carefully and book in early to avoid missing out.

Adelaide Aquatic Centre

With the weather warming up, Adelaide Aquatic Centre is the perfect place to cool down these school holidays.

Open 7 days a week, your little one can enjoy the play spaces, fountains, and shallow water of the family leisure pool, while the older kids take the plunge in the lap and dive pools. It’s heated and undercover, so it’s perfect no matter what the weather is like.

Plus, they’ll stay fit, healthy, and active all holiday – while having lots of fun.

Located in the Adelaide Park Lands, just a few minutes north of the city,  the Adelaide Aquatic Centre is a great place for families to visit.

Adelaide Central Market

Big Market Adventures for Little Foodies is back at the Adelaide Central Market these school holidays!

Try the Market Trail, where each little foodie will receive a market bag and map to guide them to each of the ten pit-stops to receive a sample item at each stop. The sample items range from cheese, yoghurt, a piece of seasonal fruit and sweet treat. You can’t beat the Market Trail for value and fun these school holidays.

If you have a little chef in the house you may wish to try Little Market Chefs, cooking classes by Sprout for kids aged between 6 and 12 years. All of the produce will be fresh from Market stalls and the classes will be fun, interactive and each class will include a small take away meal of the dish they prepare.

Are you smarter than the Adelaide Gaol guards?

These school holidays you can help the naughty prisoners solve the puzzle and escape the walls – just like the real-life stories of backflipping circus performers and crafty painters making their own guard uniforms who all thought their ideas would lead to freedom.

Wind your way through one of Adelaide’s oldest buildings in this hide-and-seek game steeped in history.

This word-scramble escape trail has been designed for 5-12 year olds, although younger children might require assistance. We recommend allowing up to an hour to complete the trail. Bookings are not required and this activity is free with entry.

Adelaide Zoo & Monarto Safari Park

Nature Craft – get outdoors and get crafty at Adelaide Zoo and Monarto Safari Park.

Bay City Rolling is a new event debuting in Glenelg for the October school holidays.

Strap on your skates and roll under an opened marquee with views of the beach. A great affordable family experience for all ages and three weekends of roller-disco fun.

The roller skating rink is 460m2 and it is located in a 900m2 undercover but open marquee, to let the sea breeze drift through.
 
There will be a maximum number of 150 skaters per session to ensure there’s lots of space to physically distance.

FREE School Holiday Sports Program 

Registrations are now open for the City of Charles Sturt’s FREE School Holiday Sports Program for children aged 3-17 years.

To be held from Friday 25 September 2020 to Sunday 11 October 2020, with 21 sports providers offering 68 activity sessions across the City, including cheerleading, karate, soccer, football, baseball, roller-skating, hockey, games and activities, dance and more. There are also sessions available for children with special needs.

This is open to all kids – you don’t have to live in the council.

Cleland Wildlife Park

Cleland’s very special OSCH program Wildification is back these school holidays!

Get ready for a day filled with games, scavenger hunts, animal encounters, exploring nature’s wonders, craft-like projects, keeper presentations, making new friends and more! Be quick to book, as there are limited spaces available for each session. Please note there is an additional cost for this activity.

Alternatively, join the ‘Super Survivors’ trail and discover the cool super powers our Australian animals need and have to survive the many threats and dangers that they face. Make your way around the park and learn about some of the dangers and threats facing our super animals. Then find out what is being done to help them and what you can get involved. Don’t forget to decode the secret message that is hidden in the trail. This activity is free with entry.

Dolphin Sanctuary Kayak Tours

The Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary is the hub of marine adventure.

Mountain Bike Geocaching

Head for the Hills Cycling is running their super popular Geocache Adventure again these school holidays. Participants will ride over 12 kilometres as they work as a team to navigate and find hidden geocaches on the Craigburn Farm Trails in the Sturt Gorge Recreation Park.  Recommended Ages 11 – 14 years who can ride a bike on 2 wheels confidently.

Migration Museum

These school holidays at the Migration Museum you will be able to visit the British Migrants exhibition before it finishes in November.

Developed by Museums Victoria, British Migrants features stories told by children, teenagers and families, amongst others – all brought to life through compelling digital animation.

This September you will also be able to check out the new exhibition, Expressing Ourselves: Being Deaf in South Australia. What is it like to be Deaf today? What was it like 50, 100 or 150 years ago? Learn about Auslan and the ways Deaf South Australians create and experience our unique culture. Join us as we share stories of deaf South Australians from the past, meet those living in the present, and look at where Deaf life is headed in the future.

National Motor Museum

The National Motor Museum is a favourite for kids and parents alike, with a huge display of iconic vintage vehicles, interactive displays and gorgeous grounds for a picnic in the Springtime sun.

The museum’s famous annual event the Bay to Birdwood is on at the start of the holidays and for the first time ever will be live-streamed. The special 40th anniversary of the Bay to Birdwood will celebrate all decades of motoring history. Gather some friends to watch online on 27 September. You can also download an activity sheet from the Children’s University website for the little ones to watch, learn and engage.

September/October School Holiday Group Bike Riding Lessons

Ride-a-Bike Right has mastered the art of teaching anyone to ride a bike. Operating since 2011 they have taught thousands of kids the joys of bike riding. Your child can learn the skills too in a supportive environment that teaches children to ride a bike the right way.

South Australian Maritime Museum

Tap into the creative side of your children with Yasi’s sewing classes.

Class 1: Scrunchie making – Learn how to make 2 kinds of scrunchies. All fabrics, elastic and sewing machine provided but feel free to bring your own favourite material. Duration: 1 hour | Cost: $40 | Ages: 8 and up
