Adelaide Rally & Motorsport Festival | Gouger Street Party & East End Finale | 4-7 Dec 2019

2019 Shannons Adelaide Rally – Gouger Street Party & East End Finale

Completely free to spectate, this four day tarmac rally located in Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu Peninsula and McLaren Vale regions features 3 festive events in the City and Hills, including racing on Rundle Road in the heart of Adelaide on Saturday 7 December.

The 2019 Shannons Adelaide Rally is a four-day tarmac rally comprised of up to 32 closed road stages up to 22km long, with a total competitive distance of almost 160km. The closed road stages are highly technical, serpentine and challenging hillclimb-style roads typical of the Adelaide Hills and surrounds.

Many of these sections are taken from iconic Classic Adelaide Rally stages of old, such as Basket Range, Norton Summit, Gorge, Corkscrew, Chain of Ponds and more. The furthest closed road stage from Adelaide is 55km away and the entire closed road course can be recce’d in one day.

The competitive categories of the Shannons Adelaide Rally run over four days, with Challenge and Competition classes hitting their first stage of the event on the Wednesday afternoon.

Tour categories get started on Thursday morning, with the Prima Tour heading off first.  Main Tour and Spirit cars will continue on to tackle more closed road stages and longer stages compared to 2018.

Combined, all category entries are expected to eclipse the 304 entries received in 2018, making the Shannons Adelaide Rally possibly the largest tarmac rally field in Australasia for 2019.  Open to Modern and Classic Vehicles in competition and touring categories, there is a category to suit just about every car and driver.

The event combines spirited driving challenges and touring as well as hard-core rallying. Iconic closed road stages throughout the Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu and McLaren Vale Regions feature prominently as do traditional street party activities such as The Gouger Street Party held in the Adelaide CBD which attracts 14,000 attendees.

In 2019 a new street party is planned for the East End of Adelaide at the Rally’s conclusion on Saturday 7th December.

The result is four days jam-packed with activities and a festival feel not found at any other rally event in the country.

If you’re planning to attend please read the important information for spectators HERE.

Amadio Wines Gouger Street Party

Friday 6 December 2019  |  5.30pm-9.30pm

Friday night drinks with a difference…join Adelaide’s vibrant restaurant precinct as the entire Adelaide Rally field gather in Gouger Street.

For the first time ever, the entire street is licenced, so you can get a close look at all of the cars with a glass of wine in hand. Amadio Wines will be serving from Ruby’s popup wine bar and all of the restaurants on the strip have extended al fresco dining.

Party band Mr Buzzy will crank out the tunes thanks to the Gouger Street Traders Association.  It’s a great way to finish the working week and celebrate motorsport in the City of Adelaide.

Birdwood Lunch Stop

On Saturday 7 December 2019 the whole Rally field will gather on the museum’s grounds for lunch and you are invited.  Entry to the museum is FREE all day, so take family and friends along, see the rally cars up close, and check out this internationally recognised collection.  Cars will begin arriving around noon and the last ones leave after 3:20pm. East End Finale Party

Saturday 7 December 2019  |  2.20pm-9:30pm

The East End Finale Party is something for the whole family to enjoy as they cap off four days of intense competition in the Adelaide Rally with a massive FREE street party, supported by the City of Adelaide.

The full Adelaide Rally field will take on the Rundle Road Super Special Stage – a full-throttle finish on a stretch of road famously used as part of the Adelaide Formula One Grand Prix. On a tight and technical final stage, cars ranging from classic sports cars to the latest exotic supercars and legends from the World Rally Championship of days gone by will roar to the event’s conclusion, with spectator viewing along the length of the course in Rymill Park.

Each car will then pass through the finish arch in the intersection of East Terrace and Rundle Street before parking on display for the rest of the evening. Spectators are free to check out the cars up close, plus there are plenty of activities for kids of all ages, including remote-control car racing, slot cars and driving simulators.

Australian Motorsport royalty will be in attendance – the 1980 Formula One World Champion Alan Jones will put a new McLaren 720S Spider through its paces on the Super Special Stage. He’ll be joined on the tarmac by the Driftsquid, Jake Jones (no relation), who will deliver a masterclass in driving sideways.

The new Adelaide-built Brabham BT62 will also take to the Rundle Road course and will be on display throughout the event.  There will be brand activations and displays in Rundle Street and Rymill Park including Ferrari Adelaide, Lamborghini, McLaren, Bentley and Lotus from Zagame Automotive Group, Mercedes-AMG, BMW, MINI, Škoda and more.

NOLA Adelaide will have a popup food stall, plus of course the East End offers dining options to suit all tastes.

Watch the Rally winners receive their trophies on the big stage, and enjoy tunes from Sugar deejay Driller Jet Armstrong and local blues rock outfit Ambush.
