Adelaide Roller Derby Grand Final 2019

Double header: Mile Die Club v Salty Dolls & Road Train Rollers v Wild Hearses

2019 has been an exciting and game changing season. With strong development across all teams, both games could go to anyone. With one victory against each other on the scoreboard, both the Mile Die Club (reigning 2018 champions) will face off against the Salty Dolls for the grand final. The Grand Final is a double-header with two bouts. The Wild Hearses will take on the Road Train Rollers to open the night, fighting to gain the third place spot for the season.

There’ll be plenty of off-track entertainment to keep spectators going between the on-track entertainment. The musical guest for the Grand Final is Adelaide indie-rock duo TOWNS. TOWNS have been busy thrusting themselves straight into the hearts of local fans, recently playing at SPIN OFF Festival and touring Australia with Dear Seattle.

As always, the village full of local creators and makers will be open. Plus, there will be the endless sparkling wit of the commentators and plenty of room for little skaters with safety gear.

Once the victor has been announced, everyone will be at the after party at Wheatsheaf Hotel celebrating a massive 2019 season once the games wrap up.

About Adelaide Roller Derby:

Adelaide Roller Derby (ADRD) was established in 2007 and is Adelaide’s oldest and largest roller derby league. Comprised of approximately 110 members, the league has four home teams, three travel teams, and an amazing team of officials. The league is a not-for-profit organisation that is owned and operated by skaters and for skaters. The league is split into four home teams: The Wild Hearses, The Salty Dolls, The Mile Die Club and The Road Train Rollers. These teams are supported by Team Zebra, the mixed-gender referee and official crew.

Roller Derby is a predominantly female-only, full contact sport played according to the international Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) rules. The sport operates on a DIY ethos – everything is done by the skaters from training plans, to event management and publicity to making merchandise.
