Backbone at the Adelaide Festival 2017

Backbone at the Adelaide Festival

Defying gravity and traditions, Adelaide Festival brings you the world premiere of a sweaty, sexy and devastatingly charming physical theatre event.

Backbone is the new show by home-grown, multi-award winning acrobatic troupe Gravity and Other Myths which promises to (literally) toss around the idea of strength: physical and emotional, individual and collective.

Gravity and Other Myths

Up close, sweaty, sexy, utterly charming, contagiously joyful. If you’ve seen them you’ll know that Adelaide’s own acrobatic troupe Gravity and Other Myths become your new best friends within 15 minutes. But this is just a cunning screen for jaw-dropping virtuosity, witty, thought–provoking conceits and extraordinarily disciplined team work.

This amazing, no-frills, DIY circus company’s last show A Simple Space took the world by storm. Now their brand new work, Backbone (literally) tosses around the perception of what strength is, where it comes from and how it is measured. This frenetic celebration of human interconnectedness will test the limits of strength: physical, emotional, individual and collective.

Such is their charm, this team of talented tumblers become your new best friends within minutes of the show, but all their self-deprecation is a cunning screen for jaw-dropping virtuosity, witty, thought-provoking conceits and extraordinarily disciplined team work.

Playing at the Dunstan Playhouse, Backbone is a frenetic celebration of human interconnectedness and will test the limits of strength: what it is, where it comes from and how it is measured.
