Bay to Birdwood 2019

The Bay to Birdwood is the largest, continually held motoring event for veteran, vintage and classic vehicles held anywhere in the world.

The traditional Bay to Birdwood start is held at Barratt Reserve, West Beach Parks. Following its success in 2018, there will also be a second start in 2019 (more news on this soon).  Vehicles arrive from 6am and will depart at 8.30am.

Spectators are able to meander the rows of vehicles and mingle with the citizen collector owners. Many of the vehicles are lined up in special interest groups. A variety of breakfasts are provided by community groups and local vendors ahead of vehicles being flagged off at 8.30am. It takes at least one hour for all vehicles to exit.

The Route

This year the Bay to Birdwood will follow the traditional route which takes in Greenhill Road from Anzac Highway and aims to ensure smooth passage for vehicles as well as providing more vantage points for spectators to view the impressive motorcade.

The Finish

The hundreds of historic vehicles arrive at the finish, the National Motor Museum in Birdwood, from 10.15am onwards. Families, motoring enthusiasts, admirers, and spectators are encouraged to join the entrants at the Museum.

The gates at the National Motor Museum will open at 10am as the first entrant vehicles start arriving and the main stage entertainment gets underway.

Visitors can soak up the wonderful atmosphere, listening to music of the era while meandering amidst the parked vehicles and watching the judging of the Concours d’Elegance and Preservation Class vehicles. Visitors are also encouraged to enter the Fashions in The Field, a competition where entrants dress in the fashion of the era.

There will be quality regional produce on offer, including local Adelaide Hills wines and craft beers as well as gourmet food vans. The Museum will be open as usual and there will be family and children’s activities on offer throughout the day.

Entry: $25 adult | $20 concession | under 15 years of age FREE
