12th Annual Brighton Jetty Sculptures Exhibition
Since it was established in 2008 as a fundraiser for the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club, this free event has raised more than $175,000 for the club, used mainly for training and water safety equipment.
The sculptures, weighing from less than a kilo to several tonnes, are made using a variety of media ranging from metal, ceramic and stone, to wood, clay and glass. They will grace the foreshore, surf life saving clubrooms and adjacent marquee on the Esplanade in Brighton.
The outdoor sculptures can be viewed 24/7, while the more delicate indoor sculptures can be seen in the clubrooms, about 100m south of Jetty Road, from 8am-8pm most days. Below is an image of the 2018 outdoor winner – Foci, by Karl Meyer.
The exhibition concludes with the famous annual swim, the Brighton Jetty Classic swim.
Head to Brighton and enjoy the sea breeze, some great food, support the artists who support the lifesavers and enjoy a lot of creativity that may challenge you, leave you speechless or make you laugh.
