Cleland Wildlife Park | Let Nature Be Your Guide | Crafers

Rediscover the peaceful surrounds of Cleland Wildlife Park and get up close to the animals.

Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and head to Cleland Wildlife Park. Nestled within the bushland setting of the Adelaide Hills, just 20 minutes from the CBD, the park is perfect for families with kids of all ages.

Hand feed the native animals, such as kangaroos, wallabies, potaroos and waterbirds, at your own pace. Make sure you catch one of the daily keeper talks – this is one of the best times to see the animals in action, and chat to their friendly and knowledgeable animal keepers.

Cleland is a great place to spend the day; bring a picnic, have a barbecue, or grab a bite to eat from the café which stocks only the best in local produce. If you don’t have that much time, allow at least two hours to explore the park. This will give you enough time to stop and feed the animals, listen to one of their keeper talks, and stroll at a leisurely pace. It’s a great place for young families as the park is very stroller friendly, with grassy areas for toddlers to play.

At Cleland Wildlife Park, you really can get up close to the animals, so grab a bag of food and come and see who you can meet!

Get up close to the Koalas

Cleland is one of the few places in Australia where you can get right up close to, and even hold, a koala. Included in your park entry fee is the opportunity to come along to a Koala close-up. You can meet and touch some of the park’s friendliest residents. You can also take photos of those in your group standing right next to the koala.

For an additional fee, you have the unique opportunity to hold a koala, meet its keeper and have your photo taken at the same time! Or you can organise a private, behind-the-scenes tour where you can hand-feed eucalyptus leaves to the koalas.

Please check the Cleland Wildlife Park website for updates on koala visits.

Ocean to Outback Interpretive Centre

The Ocean to Outback Interpretive Centre focuses on the four distinct South Australian environments – coasts and islands, arid ranges, deserts and backyards.

The centre gives you a glimpse of wild animals rarely seen. You’ll see nocturnal bilbies and tiny spinifex hopping mice. Cleland’s reptiles, such as venomous snakes and native lizards also live here, in controlled environments.

Find out how reptiles, small mammals, nocturnal animals and insects survive in South Australia’s sometimes harsh environment. You’ll learn how you can help to conserve their future in this unique glimpse into the diversity of South Australia’s ecosystems.

Brand New Swamp Aviary

Cleland has also officially unveiled a brand new Swamp Aviary! The aviary will showcase Royal Spoonbills, Rainbow Lorikeets, Regent Parrots, Glossy Ibis and many other species.
