From colourful kites in the air at Semaphore to picnic races in the Adelaide Hills, there’s something for everyone this Easter.

Adelaide International Kite Festival 2019 | Semaphore
The sky will fill with colour, twists and twirls, kites of all shapes and size at Semaphore beach over the Easter long weekend when the Adelaide International Kite Festival returns in April 2019.
The 2019 Festival will feature international guest kite flyers from New Zealand and as always, there will be kite flyers from interstate and locally in South Australia flying too. As in recent years, the Festival Marketplace will return with stallholders selling their wares and running activities. This area is on the foreshore and open 11am – 5pm daily. READ MORE HERE
Meadows 4 Day Easter Fair | Meadows
The Meadows 4 Day Easter Fair is a family-friendly annual event held over all four days of Easter each year. It is a large treasure market with around 100 stalls selling a wide variety of products including locally made arts and crafts, plants, books, clothing, toys, bric-a-brac, treasures and collectables.
There are also stalls with cakes and preserves along with lots of good country food at reasonable prices. Children will love the animals on display from surrounding areas, such as alpacas, goats, sheep, ponies, rescued native animals as well as a mobile farm nursery. Oakbank Easter Racing Carnival 2019 | Oakbank
The Oakbank Easter Racing Carnival has been a family favourite for generations. You can bring your own food and drinks onto the course, enjoy a picnic by your car and celebrate the Easter long weekend with family and friends.
The Easter Racing Carnival has been one of South Australia’s premier social and sporting occasions for almost 150 years, and the annual pilgrimage to the Adelaide Hills track is for many a family tradition that goes back generations. Racegoers can bring their own picnics and barbeques, and by the time racing begins the car park is awash with marquees, tents and barbeques as families and friends soak up the unique country racing atmosphere. Sophie’s Patch Easter 2019 Open Garden | Mt Barker Springs
Easter at Sophie’s Patch in Mount Barker Springs has become a tradition thousands of South Australians, and many interstate visitors have come to enjoy. 2019 will be no different and will have a few surprises. The initiative supports the Rotary Club of Mt Barker and Operation Flinders.
Gates open from 10am to 4:30pm daily and after paying the entry fee, you can stay in the garden as long as you like. The Open Garden always has a range of kids activities available and this year will include Kate Hubmayer, author of Nature Crafts for Aussie Kids making Autumn mandalas, Bev Manthey making Easter baskets and bug education with Kristen Messenger from Bugs n Slugs. Hop into Adelaide Zoo or Monarto Zoo this Easter | Adelaide CBD & Monarto South
Spend the Easter long weekend at Adelaide Zoo or Monarto Zoo and get up close to some of the world’s most endangered animals, like the Bilby!
Get your very own ‘Bilby ears’ and hear first-hand about these iconic animals everyday over the Easter long weekend during Adelaide Zoo’s Wild Show at 11.15am in the Envirodome. Easter Long Weekend at Melba’s | Woodside
Enjoy a weekend of celebration with the family, stock up on your Melba’s Easter favourites and discover Melba’s factory and all its happenings with Melba’s open from 9am to 4.30pm every day, including Good Friday.
Enjoy delicious choices from the Cafe, including specialty Melba’s Hot Chocolates, milkshakes, ice-cream, chocolates and lollies, along with scrumptious options from their friends at Maxine’s Baked Potatoes. Sand Sculptures – The Jungle Book | Port Adelaide
Sand Sculptures return to Adelaide with ‘The Jungle Book in Sand’ re-homed undercover to the Flour Shed at Harts Mill in Port Adelaide. During the April School Holidays, over 450 tonnes of sand will be transformed into all of your favourite Jungle Book characters; with 10 sculptors from around the globe having worked for over 1,000 hours collectively to bring the exhibition to life.
This year’s sand sculpting event will be held inside Harts Mill in Port Adelaide meaning that the sand sculptures will be undercover and protected from rain, hail or shine. In conjunction with the sand sculptures is an incredible array of things to do for kids and big kids alike. READ MORE HERE
Kidz Gigantic Day Out | Adelaide CBD
Kidz Gigantic Day Out returns to the Adelaide Convention Centre this Easter. The organisers of last year’s Kidz Gigantic Day Out have taken your feedback on board and this year’s event, which returns on the Friday and Satuday of the Easter long weekend, promises to be bigger and better.
Held in the heart of the City at the Adelaide Convention Centre, this year’s family-friendly event features FOUR fun, interactive zones – Active Kidz, Science & Nature. Big Rigz and Brick-a-laid. Circus Rio will be in Adelaide for the first time ever from 5 April – 12 May 2019, including performances scheduled over the Easter long weekend. Watch the incredible performers of Circus Rio take the whole family on a journey around the world, beginning at the famous Carnival of Rio de Janeiro.

Nutella Palooza | Morphettville Racecourse
Prepare to lick your spoons clean…that smooth, chocolately, hazelnutty goodness is coming by the truck loads…literally. With over 50 food trucks and vendors, Nutella Palooza will be serving up 1,000 variations of your beloved Nutella. Nutella cocktails, Nutella waffles, Nutella pizza, Nutella shakes and specially brewed for this event only, Nutella beer!
