Give a meaningful gift this Christmas and change someone’s life
Giving gifts this Christmas can make a real and lasting difference to the lives of people who live locally or around the world and also bring joy. We’ve put together a list of reputable organisations that offer support to people in need in varied ways that can have a huge impact on their lives.
Imagine being able to provide a family overseas with a way of creating their own income and that’s by just buying a goat! Imagine being able to send money overseas to a community and enabling them to have access to clean drinking water and a toilet! Or, it could be a family in Australia, currently living in a car and providing money to assist them to obtain proper housing.
These are great gifts to give to friends, family, teachers, parents-in-law, colleagues. These gifts would even make a fantastic alternative to the traditional Kris-Kringle.
Tear’s Really Useful Gift Catalogue
Every item in TEAR’s Gift Catalogue represents a contribution to a long-term poverty-fighting project run by one of TEAR Australia’s Christian partners. Each project is tailored to that community’s needs, helping people gain the skills and resources they need to address local problems and come up with sustainable solutions.

What is Kid-ness?
Kid-ness is the sheer delight of being in the moment, the strength to believe anything is possible, and giving with all your heart – it’s the essence of being a kid. Camp Quality helps Kid-ness thrive for children going through the daily ups and downs of cancer.
Purchase Kid-ness Advent Calendar Hangar and Cards or Advent Calendar Bags and you will be helping support Camp Quality.
Childhood Cancer Association
The Childhood Cancer Association is one of Australia’s key childhood cancer support organisations. They’re here to help families from South Australia and the Northern Territory — and they also support country Victoria and New South Wales families if their child receives treatment in Adelaide.
Purchase a gift from their online store and you can help provide ongoing support for children with cancer, and their families.
Mission Australia has been helping people move towards independence for more than 155 years, and their commitment to this vital work has never been stronger.
Thanks to your support, together they helped 119,185 people in 2018 by combatting homelessness, assisting disadvantaged families and children, addressing mental health issues, fighting substance dependencies, and much more.
Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal
Christmas and beyond
This year, you can buy a gift and leave it at your local Kmart store’s Wishing Tree. You can also donate money in-store or online. All gifts go towards the work of the Salvation Army to help those in need.
Salvation Army Christmas Appeal
Christmas can be a wonderful time, but when a tragedy or crisis hits it can be terribly hard. Children, people struggling alone and families battling to keep food on the table are the hardest hit.
This Christmas, the Salvation Army wants to give hope to Australians battling tough times. Your donation means that they can offer:
- shelter to people with nowhere to sleep,
- gifts for kids who would otherwise get none,
- hampers for people struggling to afford basic meals, and
- support for those struck by disaster
