Glenelg to host SA’s biggest ice cream festival
The Glenelg Ice Cream Festival returns in 2025 for the third summer in a row and with the mantle of the state’s biggest celebration of ice cream.
Jetty Road, Glenelg will be transformed into an ice cream lovers’ paradise from 4pm on Thursday 23 January 2025, with a showcase of everyone’s favourite summer treats including ice cream, gelato and frozen yoghurt.
What’s a party without refreshing pop-up bars, great food, music, fashion, kids’ activities and more including a dedicated Ice Cream Village featuring some of our best local and regional South Australia ice cream sellers?
It’s also the perfect chance to celebrate the event’s recent Silver award win at the 2024 South Australian Tourism Awards in the Festivals and Events category.
The family-friendly street party, which is the ultimate summer celebration, attracted more than 30,000 people to this year’s event, with plans to make it bigger and better in 2025.
Along with Jetty Road traders, the Ice Cream Village will showcase more than 10 South Australian ice cream businesses while also representing a variety of cultures including Italian, Thai, Filipino and Indian.
There’ll be free children’s activities, live entertainment and a fashion parade hosted by Channel 7’s Gertie Spurling, featuring fabulous fashion from Jetty Road boutiques. A sensory zone and quiet space is also being planned. Plus the beach is right on Jetty Road’s doorstep allowing for a refreshing dip between ice creams.
The fun continues the next morning, on Friday 24 January 2025, when the Santos Tour Down Under rolls into Glenelg ahead of the start of the Hahn Men’s Stage 4: Glenelg to Victor Harbor.
The Tour Parade is expected to arrive around 9.30am into Colley Terrace, with the race starting at 11.10am.
The Glenelg Ice Cream Festival will run from 4pm – 10.30pm on Thursday 23 January 2025.
