Great Southern BioBlitz
The Great Southern BioBlitz is an attempt to record ALL the living species across the Southern Hemisphere during a 4 day period (Friday 25 September – Monday 28 September). Join the workshop on 1 September to learn more and get ready for the BioBlitz.
You can participate in this citizen science activity by taking photos of the life around you and uploading them through the iNaturalist platform. Participate on your own, with your family, or get your local school, groups or organisation on board.
This information session will provide you with the skills and knowledge to confidently participate in the Great Southern BioBlitz:
- Learn what the BioBlitz is and how it all works.
- Find out where the information ends up and how participating will contribute to science.
- Practice using the iNaturalist app to log observations.
The presentation will start inside at the North Haven Surf Life Saving Club and then head outdoors to Biodiversity Park to put the new knowledge into practice and give iNaturalist a go.
This is a great session for representatives from local groups to go along and find out more. The organisers hope you will then take the Great Southern BioBlitz back to your group, school, family or community and encourage others to also participate. But everyone is welcome.
How to Attend:
Please note that due to COVID restrictions numbers are limited (to 30) and everyone MUST book to attend.
They will also try to share the session via ZOOM if you would prefer to participate remotely. When you book, you will have the option to attend in person or online via zoom. Those that select the Zoom option will receive the Zoom link via email prior to the event.
