Happy Valley Reservoir Reserve (Preview)
Enjoying recreational activities at Happy Valley Reservoir Reserve will soon be a great way for people to spend time with family and friends outdoors. The Reserve is set to open to the public by December 2021.
Access to green open spaces bring a range of benefits, and with access to Happy Valley Reservoir Reserve there will be new areas to enjoy and explore in the neighbourhood. The reservoir holds drinking water so there will be limits on the activities allowed, however walking, cycling, fishing and kayaking will all be allowed (no swimming, paddle boarding or boating). Dog walking and horses will also not be allowed.
The trails will connect in with other existing trails in the area.
Happy Valley Reservoir Reserve is part of the greater new Glenthorne National Park – Ityamaiitpinna Yarta which creates a large precinct of existing parks and open spaces in Adelaide’s south that will span almost 1500 hectares.
Mayor of the City of Onkaparinga, Erin Thompson has given a sneak peak into what’s going on with the developments.
Have Your Say:
All registered stakeholders and nearest residents will be provided regular project updates and requests for their direct feedback. There is also a Community Reference Group who are currently assisting in the development of plans by providing advice and input through the process to enhance the community experience in the space.
However, other community members are encouraged to take a poll on their preferred recreation activities they would like to see accommodated within the reservoir, a survey on what’s most important to you when considering public access to the reservoir reserve and to contribute your ‘ideas’.
