Hendrie Street Reserve Inclusive Play Space- make your contribution to make this a reality
Because every child needs to play
In a South Australian first, a new inclusive playspace at Hendrie Street Reserve in Park Holme has been designed to cater for all ages and abilities and includes elements for a broad range of disabilities. Consideration has been given to children who may have mobility issues, vision / hearing impairments and spectrum disorders such as autism.
Imagine a world without play. For one in five Australians, this is a sad reality. Our public playgrounds are not built to consider the needs of people with disabilities and their families and friends.
The Touched by Olivia Foundation together with the City of Marion, the South Australian Government and with the support of Channel Nine are giving children this opportunity by building the State’s first inclusive playspace, Livvi’s Place Marion.
See Channel Nine’s Video below:
Why? It’s simple – every child deserves the chance to play regardless of their abilities. Livvi’s Place will allow people of all abilities to play side by side in a safe and fun environment.
Livvi’s Place will be located at Hendrie Street Reserve, Park Holme, in the City of Marion, South Australia.
Livvi’s Place has been specially designed in close consultation with the community to ensure no-one is left out. To be built on a beautiful tree-lined reserve, the playground features:
- a wheelchair accessible carousel
- a hill slide
- a nature play creek
- play tables
- an accessible cubby house; and
- water play areas.
Families will love coming to the playground which will also feature BBQs and picnic shelters. The site will be fenced and protected by shade sails.
How can you help make this a reality?
Livvi’s Place need your help to raise $340,000 to turn the playground into reality and put a smile on the face of thousands of children. Help them make play a reality for all children!
To help them make this dream a reality, they need your donation before 31 May 2017. The project cost is almost $1,000,000 – and they are more than half way there. The City of Marion has invested $310,000 and the South Australian Government $250,000 through the Department of Planning Transport and Infrastructure.
Every donation over $2 is tax deductable.
Making a donation
- $50 will have the opportunity to include a hand-painted tile in the playground.
- $350 will have a personalised panel in the playground with your name or that of your business or a special message.
- $10,000 will be recognised with special signage in Livvi’s Place.
