Flinders University and South Australia’s illuminart have come together for National Science Week to show how brilliant art can be in promoting science.
The leading light projection artists and Flinders University students will be staging random pop-up projections in ways that will present a science surprise in roving locations around Rundle Mall on August 15, 17 and 19. The event will culminate on Friday 19 when art and science merge in an architectural projection onto the Flinders University Building in Victoria Square.
Workshops are underway now where the students and projection artists are producing animations that will light up the faces and achievements of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). The focus is on STEM women in South Australia who are acclaimed scientists but largely unsung heroes in the community.
The event is providing a new way of communicating science where people are encouraged to go to Rundle Mall and Victoria Square, and keep their eyes and minds open to illuminating achievements in science.
