Every Christmas, Adelaide’s streets start to sparkle with beautiful Christmas lights adorning houses and gardens, lovingly put together by generous homeowners looking to spread a little Christmas cheer!

We love heading out on a balmy evening with the kids in their PJ’s to explore Adelaide’s streets and suburbs for the best Christmas light displays. It’s a fabulous FREE family activity which has become a treasured annual tradition for us and many other Adelaide families. It’s a real treat for the kids to be out at night, staying up a bit late. This is one of those times when you see your child’s face light up with excitement and remember how beautiful it is to be in awe and wonder over Christmas.

We also appreciate the amazing creativity, time and effort of the lovely people who decorate their houses in Christmas lights and allow so many strangers to walk and drive past every night during the Christmas season.

Adelaide’s Christmas light displays are generally on from around 1 December until 31 December (this will vary for individual streets and houses).

Redden Court has some fabulous displays but we’d recommend parking your car a street or two away and walking carefully along the footpath as the street can become congested at peak times.

This annual event is a South Australian family tradition for many and has been running for over 60 years delighting thousands of families who gather along the banks of the River Torrens at night to see the display.
