For more than 50 years Adelaide Festival audiences have delighted in an outstanding mix of inspiring, challenging and entertaining artists and performers.

This vital and prestigious celebration of art from around the globe has defined South Australia as the nation’s premier festival state. With internationally acclaimed theatre productions, an eclectic array of world-class musicians, breathtaking dance pieces and striking visual arts displays, Adelaide’s warm March days and starry nights provide the ideal setting for this highly accessible event.

Throughout its history Adelaide Festival has shared Australia’s best new work along with some of the world’s great companies and international artists including Sylvie Guillem, John Zorn, Marlene Dietrich, Allen Ginsberg, James Thiérrée, Philip Glass, Isabelle Huppert, Schaubühne Berlin, Yehudi Menuhin, Isabella Rossellini, Cloud Gate Dance Theatre, Nina Simone, Jane Birkin and Malcolm McLaren.

Some of the family friendly events, performances and activities for 2015 include:

Sacrilege-womad

Sacrilege – a life-size Stonehenge bouncy castle, only at WOMADelaide.

‘Pay What You Can’

Low income earners have the chance to attend a selection of the festival’s unmissable events across music, theatre and dance.

Pay What You Can tickets will be available at the venue box-office from one hour prior to the performance. Ticket payment is via donation of an amount chosen by the patron, based on what they can afford.

This year Pay What You Can is available for five of the biggest shows in the program, including the festival’s fastest selling show of all time, the explosive audio-visual spectacular A Fleur de Peau and the festival’s fastest selling dance show of all time, Nelken, from Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch.

Pay What You Can tickets will be available for the following shows in Adelaide Festival 2016:

Saturday 27 February at 9pm (Doors 7pm), Adelaide Oval
Tickets available at Adelaide Oval South Gate Ticket Office located on the Telstra Plaza from 7pm

Go Down, Moses, Societas Rafaello Sanzio
Sunday 28 February at 6pm, Dunstan Playhouse
Tickets available at the Dustan Playhouse Box Office from 5pm

Monumental, The Holy Body Tattoo
Friday 4 March at 8pm, Festival Theatre
Tickets available at the Dustan Playhouse Box Office from 7pm

• Tectonics Adelaide
Saturday 5 March at 3pm, Adelaide Town Hall
Tickets available at the Adelaide Town Hall Box Office from 2pm

Nelken (Carnations), Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch
Wednesday 9 March at 8pm, Festival Theatre
Tickets available at the Festival Theatre Box Office from 7pm

Eligible patrons must present their current healthcare card, pensioner card or full time student card at the box office to access a Pay What You Can ticket (one ticket per person, tickets are subject to availability).

The Pay What You Can scheme adds another element to Adelaide Festival’s commitment to ensuring everyone has access to world-class arts events, alongside the festival’s existing discount ticket initiatives including: Under 30s pricing, concession-priced tickets, school discounts, Access tickets for people with disabilities and offers to various disadvantaged community groups.
