The Adelaide Fringe is always an exciting time of the year with so much entertainment on offer in and around the city and stretching out to regional areas of South Australia.
The beauty of an open-access arts festival as unique as the Adelaide Fringe is that anyone with a show, exhibition or cultural event is able to register and be part of Australia’s largest arts event, creating one of the most diverse arts festivals in the world. Renowned for fresh ideas, spontaneity and fun, the Adelaide Fringe is not to be missed!
The Adelaide Fringe runs for four weeks from mid-February to mid-March and there is something for absolutely everyone on offer, from street theatre and circus acts to world-class music, cabaret, theatre and comedy. Be sure to get your tickets early to the shows you want to see as many sell out fast.
Fringe By Day Matinee Guide
This year, there is a special edition of the 2017 Adelaide Fringe guide that highlights an abundance of daytime events and shows to help people navigate the month-long festival.
Fringe by Day is a matinee guide highlighting almost 450 exciting shows that will be staged during the day – perfect for families, the young at heart and tourists.
Genres highlighted in the guide include cabaret, children’s events, theatre, comedy, magic, music and visual art and design.

Attrape Moi! (Catch Me!)!
Flip FabriQue’s Attrape Moi! (Catch Me!) is the rocking new face of Quebec Circus. These fearless Canadians have been wowing audiences and critics around the world with their spectacular brand of radical feats, extreme acrobatics, breath-taking trampoline turns, awesome parkour and cheeky comedy. Cirque Africa features the world-renowned African troupe, consisting of 22 performing artists from 4 African countries. The show includes acrobats, dancers, percussionists and contortionists performing a 60-minute awe-inspiring show featuring stunning, colourful African costumes and high energy knuckle-biting acrobatic acts. Bubble Show with Mini Milkshake
The bubble duo are back with a brand new show. Milkshake must help Dr Bubble learn the values of sharing and friendship as not to disappear back into imagination.
A heartfelt and hilarious tale filled with beautiful bubble sculptures and puppetry until the super soapy grand bubble finale. Every child goes inside a bubble. Read our review here.
The I Hate Children Children’s Show

Peter Combe in Live It Up and Bellyflop in a Pizza
Quirky songs from Peter’s new album LIVE IT UP and together with the Theatre Bugs Kids, the old favs as well. Following two SOLD OUT Fringe Seasons, Promise Adelaide is delighted to bring you more ‘Musical Moments’. Featuring songs from classic musicals such as Matilda, Grease and Wicked and exploring some material from lesser known Broadway shows and new musical films, you will enjoy a mix of solos, duets and group numbers performed by Adelaide’s young musical theatre students. With two-hours packed with emotion from heart-rending ballads to rousing chorus numbers, there is something for everyone in this family-friendly show.
The Revolting Children of Tomorrow
The Revolting Children of Tomorrow takes you on a journey from the Dark Streets of New York City to the bright lights of Broadway!! Meet beloved characters from stage and screen as they follow their dreams to get their names in lights! With songs you know and love from hit musicals, this is a show the whole family will enjoy! Presented by Star Academy.
Le Petit Circus
Le Petit Circus is a family circus extravaganza – a 45 minute show for the whole family featuring amazing acrobatics, and stacks of silliness, perfect for children aged 3+, and the young at heart. This show returns to Adelaide for the sixth year with all new tricks and all new fun. Read our review here.
Last year’s Fringe Award Nominee is coming back with this wonderful show full of wacky thingamabobs, naughty puppets and madcap clowning. With a touch of Wallace and Gromit and Mr. Bean, Loose Ends creates a magical inventor’s world full of little wonders and big laughs. Dinosaur Time Machine
Buckle up and take a trip in a giant time machine to get up close and personal with a life sized T-Rex. Incorporating science with circus, puppetry and imaginative play in this unique educational theatre production for kids 3-9.
Boomstars & Mickster the Trickster unite to create a one-time fringe-y sensation for kids. Mixing magic, dancing, songs and young audience interaction.
Wild Imagination… Nature Play for Families
Cool off and splash around in the water play area, plus make potions with flowers and herbs. Make something amazing in the nature craft area… think clay, stick craft, teepees & dream catchers. Create with loose parts play in the huge ‘Inventors Playground’. Plus bush cubby building, tree climbing and lots more. A Simple Space
The Very Circusy Caterpillar at Adelaide Fringe Festival
Inspired by this classic children’s storybook, this fun and interactive show sees our ravenous friend take to the stage to juggle plums, hula-hoop fruit and tell a few silly stories that will have your little one in fits of giggles. It’s the perfect show for your child’s first experience of live performance and is sure to induce a little nostalgia for the adults. Read more here.

Dr Rube’s Flea Circus
Dr Rube will take you back to a time when a vaudeville performer could stand on a street corner, open a suitcase and invite everyone to dive in – into a sea of imagination and fascination! What could it be this thing with a flea? Well take a look, come and see. A hilarious show for everyone.
Mr Snot Bottom’s Stinky Silly Songs
The Willy Wonka of Weird! The Peter Pan of Putrid! Mr Snot bottom is a hilariously deeeesgusting kids comedian brimming with all the oeeey, gooey, gross-out topics kids love: boogers, bottoms, pop-offs and smells! Read more here
The Secret Life of Suitcases
The Secret Life of Suitcases is “a charming, ingenious piece of puppet theatre infused with a spirit of adventure”. Larry’s world gets turned upside down by a fantastical flying suitcase that suddenly appears at his door. This suitcase has a mission and takes Larry further than he ever thought. Read more here.
Arrr We There Yet
A rip-roaring and swashbuckling adventure in which three sailors hit the high seas in search of treasure! These acrobatic pirates turn ship life upside down! Walking the plank becomes the high-flying teeter board, steering the ship through a storm is a mesmerising cyr wheel.
Aladdin & the Genie of Unlimited Wishes
There is a tale of magic. Our story begins on the sands of Arabia. It is the dawn of a new day with new adventures for Aladdin and his cat Kira. The village awakens to so much worry – there is barely any water in the well. In the palace gardens, it is the same for Princess Jasmine and her friends. Presented by the SA Children’s Ballet Company.
Saltbush – Children’s Cheering Carpet
Saltbush is an exquisite interactive journey through the culture and landscape of Aboriginal Australia, celebrated through live dance, music, song, and stories. Adults watch on while children are invited to explore, play and dance with the performers as the landscape unfolds around them, providing a uniquely immersive experience where the young audience becomes part of this visually beautiful journey. Splash Test Dummies
Rub-a-dub-dub, The Dummies are back with some splish-splashing circus set to drown you in tears of laughter. Splash Test Dummies are here, ready to roll out their beach towels and spring into a brand new hour of circus-filled hilarity for the whole family. See a brilliant array of catch-your-breath stunt work, acrobatics, juggling and the side-splitting, slapstick comedy for which the dummies are famous.
Two brothers have to hurry to clean up their messy room before their mum comes in. No problem, right? Chores is an action-packed, laugh-a-minute, family-friendly circus show, jam-packed with zany antics. Using high-energy acrobatics, audience participation, and interactive multimedia, families with kids up to 12 years old love this wild comedy adventure. Read our review here
FoRT at the Adelaide Fringe
A physical theatre show for families inspired by the timeless craft of turning lounge rooms upside down. FoRT is full of ridiculous clowning, spectacular acrobatics and the kind of creative genius which can turn couches into volcanoes, trees into castles and boxes into racing cars. The 360 Allstars was a huge hit of the Fringe last year and is back again with its spectacular fusion of live music, stunts on wheels, breakdance, acrobatics and basketball tricks, brought to you by a stellar line up of ‘allstars’ in their field. The international cast, includes the two-time World Champion BMX Flatlander, two World Champion breakdancers, an internationally acclaimed basketball freestyler, and an exceptional roue cyr artist.
