There are venues all over Adelaide that offer vacation care programs, workshops, clinics, classes and activities for the kids, plus there are plenty of fun things to do together as a family.
Below you will find a list of venues and links to their websites so you can simply click through to check out the activities on offer. Most programs are open to school age children 5 years and older but there are some specifically for younger kids. Remember to book in early if your child is interested in participating as classes fill quickly.

Australian Sports Camps
Australian Sports Camps have run camps for over 35 years and provide the best sports coaching for boys and girls of all standards.
ASC programs are skills-based, interactive and fun, to ensure that participants improve their game and their love for their chosen sport. ASC 3-day camps will feature elite players and guest coaches.

The SA Circus Centre, the Home of Cirkidz, runs holiday programs that are built with a focus on friendship, mindfulness, safe risk-taking, inclusion and social interaction. They are also reflective of the Future of Work requirements which predict the creative and strategic learning and thinking skills that our young people will require to be successful in the future. So basically, what Cirkidz are saying is YES circus is really fun, but it’s also very beneficial for your family.
This not-for-profit arts organisation runs regular holiday programs for children aged 5 to 12 years of age. Nature Play SA – Cubby Town
It’s back! Nature Play SA and National Parks South Australia are teaming up again for their 4th Cubby Town event in Belair National Park this winter.
There’ll be cubby building, wattle and eucalypt crown making, low ropes, guided walks with National Parks SA Rangers, bell tents for reading and natural loose parts play, along with as much free play as your nature players can handle in the Adventure Playground and wild surrounds.
Tickets are strictly limited for each day of the event and bookings are essential.

School Holiday Programs
Ride-a-Bike Right has mastered the art of teaching anyone to ride a bike. Operating since 2011, they have taught thousands of kids the joys of bike riding. Your child can learn the skills too in a supportive environment that teaches children to ride the right way.
Ride-a-Bike Right offer group learn to ride lessons for children 5 years and older, as well as private lessons at times that suit your family. Bikes are provided for all lessons.

Wilderness Escape Outdoor Adventure’s July school holiday programs are an excellent opportunity for children to get outdoors and make the most of their time off. Adelaide & Monarto Zoos
Join the Adelaide and Monarto Zoos this July school holidays as they celebrate NAIDOC week.
Kids can spend their school holidays learning all about the history and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through a bunch of exciting and interactive activities at both Adelaide Zoo and Monarto Zoo. Dance with the Tal-Kin-Jeri dance group, delve into the world of traditional Aboriginal carving and painting and admire some stunning animal artworks featured throughout the program. Kids can also learn about some very special native Australian animals including emus, koalas, pelicans, pythons and wallabies.
If that’s not enough, your little ones can get stuck into activity booklets filled with unique designs prepared by Ngarrindjeri artist Jordan Lovegrove as well as nature theatre and free flight shows based on popular dreaming stories. The live presentations will also include artwork developed onsite at Adelaide Zoo by Kylee Goldsmith who is of Narungga and Kaurna descent.
So join in this school holidays for two weeks of cultural celebration and fun from 7-22 July, plus of course the popular Zoocation Care program for 5-12 year olds will run from 9-20 July (weekdays).

Goolwa Animal Farm
At the Goolwa Animal Farm, from 10am to 4pm every day throughout the school holidays, you can feed the goats, lambs, chooks, emus and lots of other animals.
Children can interact with small animals in the barn and meet the rescue joeys, visit the newly hatched babies, look in on the mini-pigs, have a chat with their cocky and galahs, feed the donkeys or sheep in their paddocks. Take a free trailer ride too! The ever popular pony rides will also be available every day, subject to the weather, (be sure to book on arrival).
Why not enjoy a coffee and snack in the café too at Animal Farm Goolwa. Admission is just $8 per child and $10 per adult. Pony rides $5.

Junior Keeper Experience at Warrawong Sanctuary
Experience the life of a professional keeper for a day! From 10am until 3pm, budding keepers will get up close and personal with Warrawong’s collection of Gliders, Possums, Kangaroos, Pythons, Parrots. and more. They’ll also feed and observe the free-roaming animals of the Sanctuary, like the elusive platypus. Junior Keepers will work side-by-side with qualified, experienced professionals and learn about animal husbandry, feeding, animal handling, captive breeding, and experience what it takes to look after a Wildlife Sanctuary. There’s even time for a few selfies with the animals.
The Junior Keeper Experience is available to children aged 6-16. It kicks off these school holidays and is available any day of the year (excluding Christmas and Boxing Day), as long as there are 2 children booked. What’s more, places are limited to 5 Junior Keepers, so everyone gets the most from their hands on experience. In addition, every Junior Keeper takes home a t-shirt, cap, participation certificate, and a million memories. It’s educational, it’s entertaining. Now that’s “edu-tainment”!

My Paintings Speak for Me – Painting Workshops
On Monday 9 and Wednesday 11 July in the first week of the school holidays, Aboriginal artist Kunyi McInerney will be hosting painting workshops at the Migration Museum as part of her exhibition, My paintings speak for me from 10.30 am – 12 pm. She will teach children about the methods and technique she uses when creating a piece of her own, and also talk about her exhibition and what her paintings mean to her.
It’s only $10 to participate in a workshop and would be the perfect school holiday activity for children aged between 5 and 12 years old. Everything will be provided for you so all you need to do is head down to the Migration Museum and get ready to get creative and make a painting that speaks to you.

National Motor Museum
GooRoo Animation – Make Your Own Movies!
Are you the next Steven Spielberg? Visit the National Motor Museum on 14 and 15 July these school holidays and find out!
GooRoo Animation Claymation workshops will be held on the first weekend of the holidays from 11am – 3pm where you can learn to create your very own movies. They will teach kids from 5 years and up about what goes into making a film, giving you a behind-the-scenes glimpse into producing an animated movie at a professional level. Be inspired by the vehicles on display, and create your own plasticine car to be the star of the show!
Movies will be filmed and put together using the Stop Motion Studio App available on mobile devices. They will then be uploaded to YouTube via the GooRoo Animation Workshops channel so you can share them with all your friends and family.

SPACE Pop Up Science Centre
At the SPACE Pop Up Science Centre these July school holidays it may be chilly outside, but it’s warm inside with plenty of intergalactic learning about our solar system. Spend a full three hours with SciWorld and experience an out of this world adventure – learning about space in their new Digital Starlab, exploring the many Space Questacon exhibits, learning something new in one of the 45 minute workshops and see their Fire and Ice Show. Tickets are required for children only aged 5 – 15 years. Accompanying adults and younger siblings are free of charge.
Workshops you can choose from include:
- Space Colonies: Make your own habitable Space Colony and take it home with you.
- Energy and Forces: What makes our world move?
- Geology: Rocks and Minerals on earth and out in space.
- Space Toys: Make your own Space Toys and learn about the physics behind them.
- Rocket Science: Make your own LP rockets and shoot them to the moon.
Morning sessions are from 10am – 1pm and afternoon sessions are from 2pm – 5pm (they advise you arrive by 9:45am or 1:45pm to select your workshop and Starlab timed tickets).

Scoffed School Holiday Fun where kids act like adults and adults act like kids!
Looking for your kids to recreate some MKR or MasterChef magic during the July school holidays?
Scoffed’s Food Saucerer’s program is the perfect outlet for their creativity. Making gourmet desserts in this half day session they get to recreate their heroes master pieces like croquembouche, lemon meringue cake with lemon verbena jelly, or even watermelon cake.

Snowmaggedon: The Penguins of Antarctica
Navigating the perilous waters of the Caribbean, it is just another ordinary day of seafaring and skulduggery for the crew of the good ship HMS Griselda. Until, that is, they stumble across a very lost penguin called Burt. Presented by the zany team at Heapsgood Productions, ‘Snowmageddon: The Penguins of Antarctica’ takes you on a voyage to one of the coldest and darkest places on Earth. Join the swashbuckling pirates as they head due South to discover the true meaning of friendship and what it means to help someone just because you can.
This chilly children’s performance is on weekdays from 9 – 20 July as part of Our Port Winterfest. See the 11am or the 1pm show for just $6 per child, explore the museum and then head over to Harts Mill for more winter warming wonder including workshops, music and food. Bookings are not required.

Sustainability Saturday at the Museum – FREE Event

The Nature Playground | 10am – 4pm | The Climbing Tree will be setting up a nature playground to get kids interested in rainy, outdoor play. Make noise with musical instruments made from reclaimed objects, build a shelter from branches and leaves, or learn new games to play with twigs and rocks!
Our Carbon Footprint | Sessions every hour | How big would your dream house be? How much TV would you watch every day if you could? Museum educators will lead kids in a fun activity to teach them about their carbon footprint. Learn about the carbon-intensive activities in your life and compare different choices.
A Little Greenhouse | Sessions every hour | Kids will create their own greenhouses in jars with the help of Museum educators. They’ll learn about the carbon cycle and how greenhouse gases work.
Starting a Garden | 10am – 4pm | Reuse household objects such as cups and cardboard rolls to plant seedlings. The kids can take them home and start their own gardens. Supported by Carbon Neutral Adelaide.
