Why sit when you can dance, sing, even mix it up with the orchestra as the Adelaide Youth Sinfonia performs a brand-new interactive 50-minute concert, Orchestra Play Time for children aged 1-4. Featuring short pieces of orchestral music with words, movement and dancing, led by singer and animateur, Elizabeth McCall.

The Adelaide Youth Orchestras’ annual concert for pre-school aged returns to the ASO Grainger Studio on Sunday 13 September 2015 with the 60-piece Adelaide Youth Sinfonia joining forces with Elizabeth McCall to present a fun-filled concert designed to entertain and educate pre-schoolers.

This will be the 10th year SA’s leading youth music organisation has staged a pre-school aged concert, proving its formula for providing Adelaide parents with a relaxed and entertaining environment in which to introduce their pre-school aged children to a classical live music performance is a winning one.

Featuring singing, movement and opportunities to get close to the instruments and the performance of some well-loved orchestral masterpieces – Orchestra Play Time is a dynamic event that’s equally fun for the musicians as it is for the colourful and responsive audience.

“Orchestra Play Time will be a highlight of our concert calendar because everybody involved just has so much fun,” says AdYO’s Artistic Director, Keith Crellin OAM. “Along with first-time parents who can’t wait to introduce their young ones to the magic of music-making, we see a lot of mums and dads returning to our pre-school concerts for a second and third time – sometimes even bringing new additions to the family with them.”

Providing the magic this year will be the Adelaide Youth Sinfonia – under the baton of Peter Handsworth – with animateur, singer and mother of two, Elizabeth McCall as compere.

Elizabeth McCall has returned to Adelaide after presenting and programming numerous sell-out pre-school aged concerts with world-leading chamber music presenter, Wigmore Hall in London.

The Adelaide Youth Sinfonia comprises 60 high school aged musicians and at this year’s Babies Proms, the ensemble will present works by composers including Mozart, Brahms, Strauss and Copland.
