American Express Openair Cinemas is returning to Adelaide this spring bringing more than movies to its brand new central venue at Riverbank Lawn. The exciting festival program of food, fun and flicks over 24 events are sure to be a must-visit event, with American Express Card Members receiving a range of exclusive benefits.
Program
This year’s program is an exciting mix of box office hits and highly anticipated new releases including the critically acclaimed ‘A Star is Born’ and ‘First Man’, along with fan favourite: Bohemian Rhapsody. Get in the seasonal spirit and kick back with these festive flicks: Love Actually and Elf. Family friendly program highlights include:
- Small Foot (PG) | Saturday 1 December – Gates open 6pm
- Elf (PG) | Tuesday 4 December – Gates open 6pm

Plus punters have no need to feel lonesome on their night out, as film fanatics and doggy owners are invited to bring their canine furry friends to any screening (being mindful of films with expected gunfire and explosions).
Food & Drinks
Purveyors of amazing street food ,Chimichurri Grill will be onsite providing delicious treats and flavours direct from Argentina to the streets of Adelaide. South Australian scotch fillet steak, locally made chorizo, succulent chicken breast and provolone cheese combined with its renowned homemade Chimichurri sauce.
No event is complete without an option for those with a sweet tooth. Haagen Dazs will be providing ice cream scoops for film loving troops.
American Express Openair Cinemas has also partnered with BBQ Buoys offering cinema-goers the opportunity to enjoy some food and fun on the water before settling down to enjoy their movie. Special packages are available via the BBQ Buoys website here and are on weekdays only.
Fear not, the refreshments are taken care of too thanks to national partners 4Pines craft beer, PIMMS and Giesen Wines. Black Devil Cider will also be tickling Adelaide movie-goers taste buds.
