Archers Arcadia Exhibition | State Library | 12 Dec 2013 – 13 Feb 2014

Arcadia-2

Roll up, roll up!

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it’s show time as David Archer presents his intriguing artworks, sensational sideshows and amazing interactive spectacles in the Archers Arcadia Exhibition.

Inspired in the tradition of Victorian and Edwardian amusements from seaside piers, circuses and travelling fairs, Archers’ artworks provide an escape into fantasy and gives humorous insight into the human condition.

Pull handles, wind cranks or push levers to bring these artworks to life. Dare to gaze into peepholes and be drawn into magical dioramas. See the life-size water powered swine, or even have your fortune told by a mechanical Gypsy!

Arcadia-3

While at the State Library why not check out the Brick by Brick exhibition or book the kids into a Wacky Wire Critterbugs Workshop during the summer school holidays.
