FINALE – Australian Premiere | Adelaide Fringe 2019 Review

FINALE – Australian Premiere

★★★★★ 5 Stars

Finale’s Australian premiere at the Adelaide Fringe features eight friends from Berlin who combine their various skills and talents to produce a fast paced, highly entertaining 60 minutes the whole family will enjoy.

The stage is set with a wall of cardboard boxes, mirror balls, a caberet corner and props such as multiple piles of books. Each performer’s personality shines through on stage as they make the audience laugh, gasp and cheer.  With comedy and silly shenanigans throughout, the show is funny and unpredictable, raw and edgy. The simple yet gravity defying balancing acts are impressive, as too is the pole work and innovative acrobatics.

Highlights include the Cyr wheel and a breathtaking aerial hoop display, and to pick a favourite act it would have to be the juggling performance using bright orange balls in sync with live drumming – the balls are bounced on an amplifyed glass platform to incredible precision – all with good humour thrown in.

There are pulsing lights, a smoke machine and bursts of confetti as the performers move seamlessly from one act to the next, each act supported by a backdrop of live music and enchanting live vocals. The costume changes are on point too!

The tight on-stage comradery between the group is obvious, congratulating each other between tricks and playing up to the audience . The final ‘finale’ requires audience participation with four lucky children chosen to step onto the stage and get involved in the antics.

Performances are held nightly (excluding Mondays) at 8pm in The Peacock at Gluttony, with 3pm afternoon performances on Saturdays (perfect for families).

Category: Circus and Physical Theatre / Cabaret

Age Recommendation:  Rated G.  A family friendly show for all ages, however the music is very loud in some acts so keep this in mind with young children or those who are sound sensitive.

Tickets: $29 – $48 / Family $110 – $130
