Fortified by Amity Dry | Adelaide Fringe 2019 Review

Fortified Amity Dry Fringe 2019

Amity Dry shines strong in new Fringe show ‘Fortified’.

Amity Dry returns with her new cabaret show ‘Fortified’ this Fringe. A lot has happened in her life since her last sellout show ’39 Forever’ and as a writer it makes sense for her to put it into songs and words. Her story is candid, raw at times, filled with honesty and heartwarming moments, but with plenty of humour too. She shares her experience of being single again at 40 and entering the dating scene, which she discovers has changed quite a bit since she was about 18.

This is a one woman show with the help of her long time Musical Director friend Jamie Burgess on piano. Her vocal talent is once again strong and mesmerising to listen to, with all original songs she has penned herself. The lyrics are very personal and will pull on the heart strings at times, but also listen out for the most hilarious take on Tinder.

Fortified is Amity’s story of survival which will give inspiration and hope to many women who may be facing, or have experienced divorce, or any adversity. She has a strong message to inspire women to be brave, to put themselves first and not to settle for second best. She is a survivor and she’s here to tell us “there’s nothing we can’t survive, if we make ourselves fortified”.

Expect to laugh, maybe cry, be touched by her stories, inspired by her words, and thoroughly entertained. Get your girlfriends together for a wonderful night out.

Fortified is at The Octagon, Gluttony all this week until Sunday 24 February 2019 at 6.40pm every night (plus an extra show on Saturday afternoon at 3.30pm).
