Government House Open Day | Adelaide | 12 May 2024

Government House in Adelaide will open its gates to the public for a special History Festival Open Day with free entry.

Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia, and Mr Rod Bunten are pleased to welcome members of the public to explore Government House and its grounds on Sunday 12 May 2024 (Mother’s Day).

Presented by Government House Adelaide as part of South Australia’s month long History Festival, you will be able to see inside the public rooms of Government House, its history and contemporary workings, and ask questions of knowledgeable guides.

Take a garden tour or explore the grounds on your own, taking in the beehives, which produce honey used in the Government House kitchen; the Governor’s Rose Garden, which features a stand of roses celebrating each Governor in our state’s history; the sweeping lawns, vegetable garden and ceremonial plantings, which include a descendent of the Lone Pine at Gallipoli.

Please note that no parking onsite is available. There are multiple paid parking options near North Terrace, along with bus and tram stops.  The Adelaide Railway Station is also close by.
