Jurassic Creatures – Dinosaurs have arrived in Adelaide -Tips & Notes | Review | Jul 2019

Jurassic Creatures have taken over Bonython Park in Adelaide | 28 June to 28 July 2019

Read our tips and notes for all you need to know about the Jurassic Creatures experience.

Jurassic Creatures is an interactive experience where your ticket price includes seeing 30+ animatronic dinosaurs, a Nickelodeon’s PAW Patrol live show, several huge bouncy castles, amusement rides, paeleontologist dinosaur digging, giant ball pit and giant building bricks, plus arts and crafts, including making your own model dinosaur.

It’s good value family entertainment with so much included in the price. Our kids thoroughly enjoyed all the activities and made the most of the three hours. The director and producer, Keith Brown happens to be originally from Adelaide, so is proud to be bringing this experience to his home town.

NOTES & TIPS FOR JURASSIC CREATURES

? All activities and most of the bouncy castles are under huge circus marquees but the dinosaurs are scattered around and not under cover.

? For timid kids go during the day. For a more spookier Jurassic experience go at night. Some dinosaurs roar loudly.

? If it’s rainy it will get muddy so wear gumboots (which are easy to get on and off anyway for bouncy castles).

? There are no toilets in the exhibition area – you will need to go to the Bonython Park playground toilets so it’s a bit of a walk to get to.

? You are welcome to take your own snacks and drinks. We tried their hotdog & chips ($6) and fish & chips ($7) and they were very good with crispy chips (nuggets & chicken strips also available). There can be a line up for food and the tables and chairs are not under cover. There is also popcorn available in the marquees.

? Book online to avoid disappointment – some sessions have sold out. If you don’t buy your tickets online, don’t go there without checking online first if there are tickets. You do not want to turn up with excited kids in tow to discover the session is sold out.

See other notes about activities below.

Included in your ticket price are all these activities for 3 hours:

? 30+ Animatronic dinosaurs
? See a Paw Patrol show (2 per session)
? Bouncy castles galore
? Little amusement rides (Tea Cup & Bugs)
? Dig your own dinosaur from an egg as a palaeontologist
? Draw dinosaurs at special light tables
? Make model dinosaurs
? Play with giant foam building bricks
? Huge ball pit

See more pics below from our visit.

The Tea Cup and Bugs amusement rides are included in your ticket price as are all the inflatables, including the big yellow and black obstacle course pictured below.

The huge circus tent which stages the PAW Patrol show seats 900 people but if you want to get up close, get there early to get seats at the front. There are two shows during the 3 hour session, starting on the hour. The show goes for about 20 minutes so there’s still plenty of time to do all the other activities. There is also the chance to have a meet and greet with one of the PAW Patrol pups.

These large foam Lego style building blocks are great for creative fun as well as a huge ball pit.

Don’t miss your chance to be a palaeontologist – get a lab coat and safety glasses on, and use the tools to dig your way through your own plaster dinosaur egg.

This activity was a hit with the kids. They loved hacking through their egg (some with more care than others).

The hammer and tools are sharp so little ones may need help and supervision to do this activity. Break away all the plaster to find your own little dinosaur that you get to keep. There are different types of dinosaurs. It’s one egg per child for this.

Make your own 3D jigsaw dinosaur. There are few different ones to choose from. This activity can take a while to do so grab one of the jigsaw puzzle sheets and the corresponding info sheet about your dinosaur and take it home to do. That way you can spend your 3 hour session time doing all the other things. For our kids, this meant more jumping castle time!

For budding artists, these light tables give you the chance to draw your own amazing dinosaur.

As mentioned before, there are plenty of huge jumping castles which the kids love. If it’s been raining, remember the grass will be muddy. White socks are not a good choice. Wearing gumboots is a really great idea as they’re easy to take on and off for each of the jumping castles. They do restrict the number of children at a time on each inflatable so there may be a bit of waiting time for some.

Make sure you walk around and find all the dinosaurs lurking around. They make sounds, move and some have smoke coming out. You’ll hear them roaring throughout the time which may scare kids who are sensitive to loud noises.

If your child may be scared, it’s best to go during the day time. Go at night for a spookier Jurassic experience. If your child can stay up til 9pm, the 6pm-9pm time slot is actually a great one to go to as it will be quieter – families with younger kids are likely to leave earlier and from 8pm there won’t be as many on the jumping castles.
