Kids Navigate Neuroscience | National Science Week | 19 Aug 2018

Why does food not taste good when we have a cold? Is the word “Yanny” or “Laurel?” How do neurons communicate? What does the brain look like up close?

In this interactive National Science Week children’s event, held by the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Adelaide, the answers to these questions and many more will be explored.

Children (aged 4-10) will explore how the brain and nervous system work in a fun and hands-on way by participating in a series of interactive neuroscience exhibits created by faculty members and students at the University of Adelaide. At each station, children can collect a stamp in their “Passport to the Brain” and work towards earning an official “Brain in Training” certificate. At the end of the day, kids can show off their knowledge by competing in a quiz to earn prizes and bragging rights. There will also be raffles, door prizes, T-shirts available for purchase and much more!

And this year, join in after the event to explore the “Brain Food” pavilion from 3.30-5.30pm. Grab a bite to eat, visit the booths and learn more about what makes the brain so fascinating! There will also be free face painting and ballon artists available to show off their skills at making neurons!

Tickets are $5 per participating child and will include a free show bag and certificate. Please note that parents and younger siblings do NOT need to purchase tickets.
