Kids Navigate Neuroscience

Kids Navigate Neuroscience

Why does food not taste good when we have a cold? Is the word “Yanny” or “Laurel?” How do neurons communicate? What does the brain look like up close?

In this interactive National Science Week children’s event, held by the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Adelaide, kids will get to explore the answers to these questions and many more. Kids Navigate Neuroscience is celebrating its 5th anniversary this year.

Children (aged 4-10) can explore how the brain and nervous system work in a fun and hands-on way by participating in a series of interactive neuroscience exhibits created by faculty members and students at the University of Adelaide.

At each station, children can collect a stamp in their “Passport to the Brain” and work towards earning an official “Brain in Training” certificate. At the end of the day, kids can show off their knowledge by competing in a quiz to earn prizes and bragging rights. There’ll also be raffles, door prizes, T-shirts available for purchase and more.

This year, there will be a “Brain Food” pavillion before the event, open to explore from 11:30am -12:30pm. Grab a bite to eat from the charity BBQ, visit the booths and learn more about what makes the brain so fascinating. There will be free face painting and a balloon artist available to show off their skills at making neurons.

Tickets:

  • $7.50 per participating child (includes a free show bag and certificate)

Note: Tickets are only needed for children, no need for accompanying adults to pay. Each participating child must be supervised by an accompanying parent or guardian at all times.
