Establishing Lifelong Learners
Set in a single location at the base of the Adelaide Foothills, Mercedes College is one of few South Australian schools to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) from Reception to Year 12. Mercedes presents a wealth of opportunities to nurture and challenge students, and enables continuity of learning across their entire schooling.
Junior School students at Mercedes College are provided with a unique education through the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme. This co-educational Catholic school incorporates this globally renowned programme with the Australian curriculum to provide students with a world class education and subjects most relevant to young Australians in the 21st Century.
The IB Programme structures how content is delivered in the Junior School to enable children to develop the problem-solving and critical thinking skills required in a rapidly evolving world. Establishing this framework in the primary years builds a strong foundation for students to move into the Middle and Senior Schools, and beyond, as the Mercedes College curriculum is designed to develop lifelong learners.
The Primary Years Programme encourages international mindedness and a positive attitude to learning through inquiry. Mercedes’ learning environments, both inside and out, are designed to stimulate and develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people.
Mercedes College Playgroup is for children aged 0-5 years to learn and play through a range of structured activities. Mercedes College Playgroup encourages free play where children are supported to choose, experiment and play at their own pace. They organise a range of learning experiences which strengthen the fundamental early childhood developmental skills. This includes fine and gross motor skills, language, collaboration, sensory and social skills. CLICK HERE for more information.
