Mother’s Day Sunday 12 May 2019

Mother’s Day gift ideas and family friendly activities to show Mum how much you care.

Many of us are fortunate enough to be mothers – to little or big kids – or to have had the privilege of having a Mum who is always there for us.  Mums work really hard, lose a lot of sleep and we think Mums everywhere are special and deserve some extra love and attention to show how much they are loved and appreciated.

Some Mums will appreciate a little getaway or high tea with the girls, others want to relax and spend some time at home just playing with their children.  If you want to head outdoors to enjoy time with family, then a visit to one of Adelaide’s beautiful parks or gardens is ideal, or perhaps a drive into the hills or down the south coast.  Other gift ideas that are fairly traditional but always lovely to receive are fresh flowers or a pot plant, chocolates, wine, a good book, time out to read the book … did we mention not having to do dishes?

Take the time to find out what that special Mum in your life would love most. Here’s some top ideas (put together by Mums) for Mums and for Dads who are hopefully reading this too!

Handmade & Homemade Gifts

♥   You can’t beat a handmade card as a unique keepsake – include a handprint/footprint or draw a tree with fingerprints for leaves.

♥   Breakfast in bed – such as fluffy pancakes or poached eggs on toast and freshly squeezed juice – add fresh herbs or flowers in a vase and serve on a tray.

♥   Pick flowers and some greenery from the garden and arrange in a vase/bottle/jar and add a hand written note.

♥   Make a terrarium – use a low, wide bowl, add small pebbles, soil, larger pebbles and plants.

High Tea

High Tea with your Mum, Grandmother, daughter, girlfriends, or the special people in Mum’s life.  Book a table at a restaurant or make a pretty ‘high tea’ setting at home with sparkling wine or water, cups of tea and bite size little treats.
