We’ve recently stumbled across an old gem – Pine Reserve Playground in Aberfoyle Park
by Brooke Hendry
Have you ever lived in an area for years and not realised that you had an absolute treasure of a playground literally around the corner?
This is what has happened to us. How did we not know about Pine Reserve Playground in Aberfoyle Park? We’ve been missing out!
This fun Adventure playground has been built perfectly within a pine tree forest, incorporating the trees into the obstacle-course style set up.
There’s something for everyone
What we love about Pine Reserve in Aberfoyle Park is that there is something for everyone to enjoy – young or old.
The main playground has a great range of equipment, set out to allow for an enjoyable obstacle race, including:
- A climbing structure with 2 slides and a fireman’s pole
- Various balance beams and chains
- A wooden bridge
- A tyre obstacle
- 2 x monkey bars
- A half basketball court
- A half netball court
Next to the main playground, there is also a fenced junior playground which has:
- Baby/toddler swings
- A small climbing structure with a slide
- Rocking animals
- Room to run around and burn off energy
There’s also benches, picnic tables, and a water drinking fountain.
And, as mentioned above, this playground is situated within a tranquil pine tree forest, which is a nice and relaxing setting for the adults to enjoy.
The forest section is also a great area for imaginative nature play – the kids will have fun gathering sticks to build a wooden tee-pee. Or take a walk along the little tracks, one of which leads down to a creek.
Things to consider
The downside to Pine Reserve is that there are no toilets. So make sure you go before you leave home!
Should an emergency arise, there are public toilets located approximately a 1 minute drive away in the Foodland Complex – at 142 Hub Dr, Aberfoyle Park.
The main playground is NOT fenced (only the junior playground is) and BBQ facilities are also not provided.
Coffee and food options nearby
Should you feel like a bite to eat after your play there are quite a few food options nearby, most are situated on Hub Drive.
Pine Reserve is a great playground & nature play area for families – put it on the list!
If you’re in the area or looking for a new playground to try out, then we’d recommend you take a look at Pine Reserve Playground, located on Pine Drive, Aberfoyle Park. We can’t wait to go back.
