Play at the Bay

Play, explore and experience: there is an activity for everyone! Play at the Bay is a program being run from Wednesday 3 to Friday 12 October 2018. The concept encourages children to play, explore and experience by offering workshops for a wide range of ages.

Bookings are essential and places are going fast so make sure to book on time to secure your spot. Registrations will close 24 hours prior to each activity unless otherwise stated.



Kids Pizza Making Class 

Make, bake and eat your own organic pizza lunch at the award-winning GoodLife

Chocolate Class 

Learn all about chocolate and how it is grown and made into a chocolate bar. Then make your own chocolate masterpiece to take home and eat!

Chopsticks for Children 

Let’s get some chopsticks and make a STIR FRY! Lots of hands-on vegetable prep and a quick cook for all!
Kids will learn how to chop veggies like broccoli, carrots, celery, and capsicum while learning about how important they are for our bodies. They will grate ginger and learn how to smash and press garlic.

Parents encouraged to stay and enjoy the session with children, siblings welcome. Then everyone will taste the food and there may be some leftovers to take home – so bring some take-home containers!

Sport with Ready Steady Go Kids

Kids will have fun trying T-ball, Athletics and Rugby. Ready Steady Go Kids is Australia’s leading multi-sport program for children aged 1.5–6 years and their coaches will teach kids the fundamentals of the sports on offer and help develop essential motor skills in a fun, non-competitive environment. Groups of up to twelve (12) kids will rotate through each sport and see the fun that can come from sport and physical activity. Parental participation is invited and encouraged.

Race Around the Bay

Do you and your friends love an adventure and a bit of friendly competition? HoldUp Youth Committee is running a Race Around the Bay. You will have two hours to complete as many activities on your list as you can. The team with the most points will be the champions! There are great prizes up for grabs and tonnes of fun activities suitable for all ages. It is suggested that ages 13 and up can participate on their own and ages 12 and under should participate with an adult. Teams will be travelling around Glenelg on foot and crossing roads during the event

Children’s Spring Planting Workshop

Bring the family early to visit the wonderful Organic Market on-site at Glenelg North Community Centre. Every registered child and siblings will receive a free piece of fruit from the Organic Market. Workshop commences at 10.30am at the Glenelg North Community Garden and each child will take home the seedlings they plant. If the kids are hungry after working in the garden, stay on for a sausage sizzle put on by the Veterans Shed.

Crabbing at the Bay

Join the City of Holdfast Bay and Nature Play SA as they teach your children the skills to crab so it is safe, sustainable and most of all, heaps of fun! Spend some quality time outdoors as they [literally] teach you the crabbing ropes and potentially spark the beginning of a new family activity. Crabbing will take place using nets from the jetty and you can catch-and-release any crabs caught on the day. Bookings are essential.

Family BARRE Class

Join Aleenta BARRE Glenelg for a family friendly BARRE class these school holidays. Enjoy a 45-minute BARRE class, a blend of yoga, pilates and BARRE moves for both adults and kids. A perfect mix of fun, coordination and relaxation for the entire family.
Please wear grippy socks. Adult socks can be purchased at the studio for $20.

West Beach Skate Park Comp

Get down to the West Beach Skate Park and compete in skate, scooter, or BMX. The Skate Park League competitions are community-based, grass-roots events focused on embracing skate park culture and bringing the community together. All competitors will go in the draw to win one of the raffled off prizes.

Let’s make a Jewellery Box or a Treasure Chest

Fairy School is back this school holidays! Go in your best dress ups for an enchanting session of music, dance and fairy wishes. Each child will make their very own jewellery box or treasure chest with sequins, gemstones and sparkles to take home. Hosted by the magical fairies of the Fairy Bay.

Wobbles the Clown
