Play, explore and experience: there is an activity for everyone!
Play at the Bay is a program of school holiday activities being run from 3 to 13 October 2017, at Glenelg. The concept encourages children to play, explore and experience by offering workshops for a wide range of ages.
Bookings are essential and places get booked quickly so make sure to book on time to secure your spot.
Play at the Bay – Introduction to Nippers Surf
Go and enjoy an hour of fun at Seacliff Surf Life Saving Club. Have a go at some nipper activities, be taken on a tour of the club and learn about beach safety. Parents can relax and have a coffee in the club over looking the beach and stick around afterwards for a sausage sizzle. Please ensure you bring bathers, a towel, trainers, a drink, sunscreen and a hat.
Friday 6 and 13 October 2017 | Ages 5 – 14 | Cost: $5.61 (plus a gold coin donation for the sausage sizzle)
Learn how to clear a mask and develop some finning skills, in this introduction to snorkelling. At the end of the session you’ll head to the beach for a walk and learn how the small creatures live between the intertidal zone.

Introduction to scuba diving, safety procedures and skills development following by a knowledge review.

Art and Crafts
Beadwork on the Beach
Beads are supplied in a variety of sizes and colours for you to craft your own personalised keyring, bracelet, necklace or bag tag. Learn patience and how to be creative whilst having fun stringing beads! A great activity with friends or family, taking home your creations to enjoy.

Linocut for Kids – Marine Theme
Linocut is one of the easiest printmaking techniques, it can be hand-printed on a variety of paper and fabric. Its simplicity and ease makes it the perfect introduction to the art of printmaking for kids. It’s also lots of fun and you can take home your creation. Bookings are non-refundable as materials have to be purchased in advance.

Make & Play Hula Hoops
Performed by Adelaide Hula Hoopers, children will decorate a pre-made hula hoop in beautiful colours and learn some cool hoop moves including hoop tricks and hoop dance. Each child can practice their moves at home with their new self designed hoop. Bookings are non-refundable and please select the hoop size required when purchasing a ticket.

Mosaic Workshops by Mary Lovich
Children will create colourful mosaics, using a variety of tessera such as tiles, beads, shapes, crystals, mirror, stones, shells, jewellery and more. All products safe and non-toxic.

Adelaide Shores Skate Park
This event is part of the YMCA Skate Park League and will include skate, BMX and scooting competitions. Check out the YMCA website for information on timing and age groups for different events.
