Public Transport Expo at the National Railway Museum

Celebrating the SA History Festival, held annually in May, the National Railway Museum has put together a great collection of various public transport exhibits for all ages to inspect and enjoy.

The two day event will include the following:

Four former Adelaide buses will be on display over the weekend, ranging from the 1970’s and 1980’s:

  • Volvo B59 No.1001 (1978)
  • Volvo B10M No.2405 (1981)
  • MAN SL200 No.1812 (1982)
  • MAN SL200 No.1352 (1988)

SA Police Historic Vehicles display.

Iconic 1950s’ Redhen railcars, used for 40 years on suburban Adelaide tracks. Catch a ride on one of the many shuttles operating during the 2 days – just $3/adult, kids free.

Celebrating 99 years this year – full size steam engine Peronne, built in Scotland in 1919. Take a ride behind this classic locomotive – $3/adult, kids free.

Popular miniature steam engine Bill will be running around the huge site all day, on both days – everyone can ride Bill for free.

Exhibition “City Bound” celebrating the history of Port Adelaide/Port Dock Railway Station over the decades since opening in 1856. A great model railway by Gavin Thrum is also on view.

Rotary BBQ and Coffee/Cookies.

Admission:

  • Family $32 (2 adults and up to 3 children)
  • Adults $12
  • Concession $9
  • Child (5-15 years) $6 (under 5 free)
