Delicious bread, pastries and coffee

Real food, real flavour, made by hands … with soul is the tagline of Red Door Bakery in Croydon. They pride themselves on making their delicious bread and pastries with the best quality ingredients that they can source and they serve small batch, organic local roasted coffee.

With outdoor seating, a cute and cosy interior, friendly staff, and delicious food you can’t go wrong. It wouldn’t have been socially acceptable to work our way through the whole of their current menu in one sitting, but we gave it a fair whack and can report that they offer taste sensations to suit both sweet and savoury palates.

The Play & Go kids stood with their faces pressed to the cabinet eyeing up the various sweet delights including the passionfruit “merrin-goo” tarts before settling on some almond croissants and some salted caramel chocolate slice – which I had thought would go nicely with my coffee.

Turns out I had underestimated how much my kids can eat, especially when it’s bakery food. The mouthful I had of the salted caramel chocolatey goodness was pure bliss.

Next time we’ll order the passionfruit “merrin-goo” tart as well 🙂

Sitting in a cosy cafe, with the sun streaming in, on a winter’s morning tucking into an almond croissant – it doesn’t get much better than this.

The beautiful floral arrangements did not go unappreciated by the children.

I read on Red Door Bakery’s website that they donate their excess food to Oz Harvest, which is a great idea. Sadly we didn’t leave any food behind on our plates – I had to stop the children from licking their plates clean.

Red Door Bakery is child-friendly too – and just down the road from the super-fabulous Train Park Playground.
