SAPOL Road Safety Bike Centre Adelaide | Bonython Park | Review

SAPOL Road Safety Centre, Bonython Park – Port Road, Adelaide

by Sharon Harrington

We love visiting the SAPOL Road Safety Centre! It is the perfect spot for kids to practice riding their bikes.

The space is fully enclosed and free from cars, which makes it a really safe place for young kids to ride. It even has real traffic lights, road signs, roundabouts and pedestrian crossings. All the things you’d find on the streets. Kids can gain confidence learning road rules and have fun riding around on the track, without the threat of vehicles on the road.

When the kids need a break from riding, there are some good climbing trees and lots of grassy areas for a picnic or a run around.

The centre is also located next to the fabulous Bonython Playground.

The location is also a fun venue for a birthday party. We often see parties set up at the undercover table, balloons and party snacks at the ready!

Toilets aren’t too far away, located a short walk outside the gate or there is one near Cafe Bonython.

The centre is available for use on weekends between 8am-6pm (or 8am-8pm during daylight saving). Just check with SAPOL (Ph. 8207 4668) on weekdays if they are using it, or go between 2:30pm-6pm (2:30pm-8pm daylight saving). If the ‘DO NOT ENTER’ sign is up please do not use the mock roadway as it is booked for a SAPOL session.

Coffee, food and playground options nearby:

When you are finished, say hello to the nearby police horses and walk on over to Bonython Park for a playground adventure or even have a coffee and eats at the new Cafe Bonython. Day out sorted!
