State Library of South Australia Science Week Events

The State Library is participating in National Science Week as they explore innovation, technology and research drawn from their collections.  National Science Week is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology – big issues, brilliant minds, great sights and top science in the heart of Adelaide.

Explorer in Residence – children’s program

  • When: Sunday 13 August & Sunday 20 August 2017
  • Time: 11am, 12.30pm & 2pm
  • Where: Meet the Professor in the main foyer
  • Suitable for ages 5 to 8 years
  • Free event

Join Professor Thaddeus Plumkin, the Explorer in Residence, in the historic Mortlock Chamber as he takes you on a whimsical journey through time and the exploration of South Australia. Includes making your own map of discovery with the Professor.  To book click here.

Scinema @ SLSA

  • When: Friday 18 to Sunday 20 August 2017
  • Time: 12pm – 4pm
  • Where: Hetzel Lecture Theatre, Institute Building
  • Suitable for ages 12+

The Library is delighted to host a tailored selection of this year’s extraordinary stories seen through the eyes of movie makers from around the globe. A continual loop allows you to stay for a short while or enjoy the entire presentation – a unique perspective on science, technology, research and innovation.  Starship Mawson lands at the Library on 19 and 20 August to discuss space travel and the galaxies in between movie screenings.
