Sophie’s Patch Spring Open Garden 18th to 20th November 2017

Sophie’s Patch Spring Open Garden will have a fabulous program of speakers, nurseries, refreshments and surprises providing entertainment and inspiration for the thousands of visitors from across Australia who visit this dry lands garden.

Hear from: experts on backyard poultry, how to attract butterflies and birds to your garden, the importance of native bees and how to attract them, tips on keeping bees at home, organic vegie gardening, advice on growing Mediterranean climate fruit trees and making a succulent Christmas tree as a table centre piece.

Kids activities: Kate Hubmayer will teach nature craft for kids on Saturday and Kristen Messenger from Bugs n Slugs will supervise bug related kids activities on Sunday.

Browse and buy: quality plants from a selection of nurseries with unusual ornamentals, herbs, vegies and succulents.

Homemade refreshments: will be available from stalls selling lunch, tea, coffee and drinks as well as cakes made from Sophie’s Patch produce and savoury treats by the Waldorf school year 10 students. Beans Talk Coffee Cart will be offering barista made coffee. This social enterprise is an initiative of the Hutt Street Centre, who work with people who are experiencing homelessness or are vulnerable.

Entry Fee: $10, children under 18 free, stay in the garden as long as you like. Supporting the Rotary Club of Mt Barker and Operation Flinders.

Gates open from 10am to 4.30pm daily.
