South Australian Youth Arts | Theatre & Acting Workshops

South Australian Youth Arts (SAYarts)

SAYarts runs after school and weekend acting and theatre workshops throughout the school term (in the tradition of Urban Myth), as well as school holiday programs. All classes have a performance outcome. The focus at SAYarts is on group devised creative work that comes from our students’ imaginations and play.

For example, the Heavy Night classes are working towards a full production in 2016 based on their retelling of Greek myths and legends, whilst other classes are devising end of term show & tell pieces straight from their imaginations under the guidance of our highly qualified youth theatre specialists. All of our tutors are working theatre professionals with extensive experience.

Why Theatre Classes?

Theatre encourages empathy, builds resilience and confidence, improves communication and allows creative expression. Friends are made and extraordinary life skills are achieved. Theatre is often the place children find their sense of self and belonging.

SAYarts is based in the old school buildings at St Augustine’s Church at 183 Unley Road, Unley (corner Edmund Avenue). We are easily accessible by public transport and there is adequate parking around the area.

Classes cater for 5 year olds through to 95 year olds! You can find all of our classes listed on SAYarts website. Our 5 through to 10 year olds have one hour classes on Saturdays, whilst older children have two hour classes throughout the week.
