Story Time @ Your Local Library

Story time at your local library is a fabulous, free activity held during the school term. This preschool experience aims to introduce children to the wonderful world of books within a safe, fun environment. Aimed at 2-5 year olds, the session normally involves a librarian reading stories out loud to the children, which can include rhymes, songs, and finger plays followed by a simple art and craft activity. The sessions run for 30 to 45 minutes and are usually held in the mornings on one, two or three days of the week. Bookings aren’t required so you can make it a regular outing or just join in on any occasion you are free.

Most libraries have an area dedicated to children. A children’s library service contains a large range of books, CDs, DVDs and magazines for children of all ages. For parents you can also find Early Literacy Kits, parenting books, magazines and DVDs to assist in raising children. Libraries contain useful booklists and community information too.

Your local library may also offer school holiday programs so be sure to ask for their schedule before the end of term and book in early.
