To make it easier for you to find things for the kids to do during the school holidays the Play & Go team have put together our Holiday Guide featuring some of the most popular, and some not-so-well-known activities on offer. There are venues all over Adelaide that offer vacation care programs, workshops, clinics, classes and activities to keep the kids busy.
Below you will find a list of venues and links to their websites so you can simply click through to check out the activities on offer. Most programs are open to school age children 5 years and older. Remember to book in early if your child is interested in participating as classes fill quickly.

Adelaide Central Market
The Adelaide Central Market is always a hive of activity during the school holidays! Join in this January for free activities and giveaways that are sure to delight the little ones, and celebrate the abundance of fresh food available at the Market! All of their activities this January are FREE for little foodies to participate, including the Big Balloon Giveaway, Craft Workshops and Baby Animal Nursery. ANIMAL & WILDLIFE ADVENTURES
Adelaide Zoo’s Nature’s Playground is Now Open. Take a walk on the wild side these school holidays and experience the new Nature’s Playground at Adelaide Zoo. Have fun with nature inspired play equipment suitable for all abilities. The new play space is a wonderful environment where visitors of all ages can let their imaginations run wild, have fun, challenge themselves and explore the natural world. The playground includes play equipment built on nature play principles that stimulate all the senses through climbing structures, water play features, a natural creek bed and aerial walkways. The precinct also has disability friendly toilets, a new parent’s room and an undercover function area suitable for birthday parties and other unique functions. Animal Farm Goolwa
Every day throughout the school holidays you can feed the goats, baby emus and lots of other animals; hunt for eggs; have fun potato stamp painting and take a free tractor train ride (weather permitting). Children can interact with small animals and the rescue joeys in the barn, to alpacas, donkeys or sheep in the paddocks. Their ever popular Pony Days are also being scheduled for the holidays. A full day spent learning and looking after a pony! (Pre-booking is required as places are limited so call 0451 502 858 to reserve a place). Cleland Wildlife Park
Get Closer to some of South Australia’s most iconic animals these school holidays at Cleland Wildlife Park. Feed and pat the friendly free-roaming residents, enjoy a koala or reptile experience and immerse yourself in nature. Hours of fun for the whole family, the park is stroller friendly too. In January there are be school holiday activities to keep the children entertained. Kids can become a Cleland Junior Wildlife Keeper and join the Cleland Education staff for fun, behind the scenes, hands on wildlife keeping activities. Hahndorf Farm Barn
Looking for some fun activities to enjoy with the kids in the beautiful Adelaide Hills these school holidays? The Hahndorf Farm Barn is a unique blend of a children’s farmyard and wildlife park. You can hold, touch and feed most of their animals in complete safety and at your own comfort level. And they pride themselves on providing the best school holiday activities in Adelaide! There are many activities for kids at the farm – try your hand at milking a cow, take a pony ride, bottle feed baby lambs and hand feed the camels and donkeys to name a few. Platform 1 Heritage Farm Railway
‘All Aboard…’ for a train ride and farm visit these School Holidays. Take a train ride through this historic farm and meet ‘Tina’ the sheep who will give you a tour of her paddock!. Explore the interactive hands on railway displays. Be a train driver and make the signals move, turn the lights on and let the bell ring. Purchase some animal food and meet and feed the farm animals. School Holiday Program – Paddock to Plate and Train Experience. As the Farmer’s wife shows you around the farm, make butter, grind wheat, and learn to crack a whip. Discover about the food chain and find out why poo is an important part of a healthy farm. Walk the dry paddocks and learn how Mother Nature survives through the hot summer months. Have a train ride, play on the hands-on railway displays and have a go at the outdoor old fashioned games. Then feed the friendly farm animals, blow cow horns, walk the open paddocks and then cool down in the undercover picnic area with yummy homemade pancakes. Cirkidz Super Summer School Holiday Programs

Unpacking Unley’s Lost Worlds: A school holiday creative collaboration between The City of Unley and SAYarts.
Have you ever wondered if dinosaurs roamed Unley Oval? Can the trees communicate with us? Is the Unley Museum haunted? What if books came alive? Are there fairies on the Village Green? Are there hidden clues in graffiti?
From Monday 11 to Thursday 14 January, all these questions and more will be answered in this immersive performance-making workshop led by some of Adelaide’s best creative minds. Grill’d Norwood Kids Masterclass
Entertain the kids these school holidays at Grill’d Norwood with 1.5 hours of fun activities and burger making, whilst you take some time out on The Parade. $22 per child which includes a burger, chips and a drink.

Ruth Tuck Art School
Summer School at the Ruth Tuck Art School runs from Monday 11 to Wednesday 13 January 2016 from 9.30am – 12pm or 1pm – 3.30pm. The activities are suitable for children aged 4 years and up.
Students attend for the three days, (morning or afternoon sessions) following a theme or story across the workshop.
Children finish a separate piece of work each day, painting on days one and two and drawing on day three, with each of the days progressing through the set theme. Blackwood Community Recreation Centre
Blackwood Community Recreation Centre runs full and half day sessions for primary school aged children during the school holidays with their Vac Care Program. Each morning a 2 hour workshop will introduce participants to new & exciting activities which may include Parkour, Gym fun, Martial Arts, Sports, Indoor Games and Fun on Wheels. Free skating, trampolining and gymnastics equipment are also available. Book your children in for lots of VACFUN today! ICA Sportzworx Stepney
ICA Sportzworx Stepney run very popular school holiday clinics for all junior and primary school children. Held from 9.30am to 3.30pm during December 2015 and January 2016. Kids also have the option to attend a half day session from 9.30am to 12.30pm or 12.30pm to 3.30pm. ICA Stepney provide coaching and fun games for the kids to take part in, focusing on sports such as cricket, soccer, netball, dodgeball, t-ball and other fun games. Kids are fully supervised at all times and are within a safe, air-conditioned indoor environment. Lunch is provided for all kids (except afternoon half days). Kelly Sports Summer Holiday Fun
Keep the kids active these school holidays and enrol in one of the Kelly Sports school holiday programs. Lots of options to choose from, including the full day indoor/outdoor Summer Holiday Fun multi- sports program or a half day On the Beach Sports and Surf program. For ages 5 -12 years.
The Kelly Sports indoor/outdoor multi sports Summer Holiday Fun program includes lots of modified games and different sports throughout the day. Sports include: foam hockey, mini Olympics, basketball, ball games, cricket, AFL, soccer, badminton, circus skills, netball, lacrosse, ultimate Frisbee, scavenger hunt along with lots of fun games (arts & craft activities also included).
The On the Beach Sports and Surf program includes beach cricket, beach volleyball, touch football, summer Olympics, world cup soccer, flags, Frisbees and a sand sculpture competition. The fully supervised water activities with qualified surf instructors offer safe water activities including surf skills and boogie boarding.
