TULLY | In Cinemas 10 May 2018

A new comedy from Academy Award® nominated director Jason Reitman (Up in the Air, Juno) and Academy Award® winning screenwriter Diablo Cody (Juno, Young Adult), TULLY follows Marlo (Academy Award® winner Charlize Theron), a mother of three including a newborn, who is gifted a night nanny by her brother (Mark Duplass; Safety Not Guaranteed, Blue Jay).

Hesitant to the extravagance at first, Marlo comes to form a unique bond with the thoughtful, surprising and sometimes challenging young nanny named Tully (Mackenzie Davis; Blade Runner 2049, The Martian).

“See how the mother half lives”

PLAY & GO MOVIE REVIEW

Mums will definitely relate to Marlo as she goes through that familiar blur of family life with a newborn and kids; the crying, the feeding, changing nappies, soothing to sleep, over and over again. The movie touches on the effects of sleep deprivation, feelings about the changes to a woman’s body after pregnancy, the pressure women and perhaps society puts on mothers, and the impact on a marriage when going through this stage in life. Added to this are the additional affects of a child with special needs on a mum who already has her hands full. Charlize Theron plays the part well and looks ordinary enough that you forget most of the time that she normally looks like a Hollywood superstar and not a mum in the suburbs with breasts for feeding, who still looks 5 months pregnant after having a baby. You’ll find yourself wishing you had such a night nanny like Tully too. This is a story that has a few layers to unfold and will definitely have you thinking afterwards. Grab your mum friends and go and see it.

Charlize Theron stars as Marlo in Jason Reitman’s TULLY, a Focus Features release.
